Dear Customer
Please read this email carefully - it explains changes to your BT bill.
In an effort to help the environment and reduce the millions of paper bills we produce every year, we are switching off paper bills for our online billing customers.
We will switch off your paper bill on Monday May 1st 2006. You may receive one more paper bill before your paper-free billing comes into effect.
When you go paper-free:
We'll continue to send you an email when your BT bill is ready to view and pay online. This won't change your Direct Debit or Monthly Payment Plan agreements.
You can view up to six months' bills online, including calls made up to 10pm the previous day
You'll be helping the environment. When customers go paper-free, BT purchases a native sapling on their behalf for the Woodland Trust to plant. Over 21,000 saplings have already been planted - that's equivalent to 28 full size football pitches
You'll be able to print your BT bill if you need a paper copy
However, if you'd like to continue to receive a paper bill, please let us know before Wednesday April 26th 2006 by clicking on the link below.
Please do not use this link if you would like the paper-free benefits detailed above.

Click the link to keep paper bills too.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

BT have had this option for 2 years now. I joined during the pilot. Much better way of managing things and kind to the environment.0

Does this mean no more junk mail ?? I fear not - hypocrites !0 -
Since I signed up 2 years ago, I have never received any paper correspondence from BT, except when I made a small change to my contract which they confirmed in writing, which I think was acceptable.moonrakerz wrote:Does this mean no more junk mail ?? I fear not - hypocrites !
So, sceptics.......they are telling the truth!0 -
We were promised a 'paper-less' office, that didnt happen, it has gotten worse imo. So if BT manage to pull it off that'll be great, hopefully there wont be as many site problems that we experience with Bulldog who also do online0

One thing to consider is the requirements of various organisations for proof of ID/address which usually demand things such as phone/gas/electricity bills.
Without these things bank accounts and other financial things are impossible. As I already only receive a electricity bill once a year I hold onto my BT bill (especially as they don't give a bill reduction as incentive).0 -
Agreed, banks are particularly bad for this.RoyRace wrote:One thing to consider is the requirements of various organisations for proof of ID/address which usually demand things such as phone/gas/electricity bills.
I had to show 6 months worth of bank statements plus proof of address just to open an account recently. What's worse is that the first thing you see when you sign in to the internet banking is.........
......... "Click here to stop receiving paper statements"

Not sure this is a bad thing, recently left BT as they sent my bills to an address they seemed to have plucked out of the air.... then insisted that I had instructed them to do it...then refused to provide me with duplicates unless I paid over £ 3.00 each!! would not accept any responsibility and then wrote to me saying it was a computer error, then phoned me to tell me that it was a human error...I wouldnt let them 'close' the complaint in case somebody had got credit in my name , as it is, after all a utility bill... they also threatened to take me to court for the final bill , which I couldnt even check was mine.... at least with on line bills they might get it right ! the first people I contacted about the missing bills were from a call centre (non-English) and they were horrible...0
