    @ darkidoe

    Yussir.
    You and me both.
    lolol

I am heavily invested at home already, so it is about time I panned out a bit geographically and there is some evidence to suggest my choices here may all be reasonable bets, albeit higher risk than I normally accept.
This is part of my long-term (30 year) strategy.

At the end of the day it's all a gamble, but I note with some amusement that both Shell and BP are up 2.5% this morning.
In olden days the druids would be shouting, "It's a sign! It's a sign!" and sacrificing their perkiest virgins.

Good luck to to ArmyDillio - at the end of the day, if you only invest what you can afford to lose, then anything else is a bonus. I don't think I would have gone with the fossil fuels - even though they are giving it away at the moment, I do believe that the future is in sustainable energy (hopefully), with electric/hydrogen cars etc., but just an opinion.

    Thanks bud',

    I agree with you.
But I see fossils being valued more highly as they start to run out unless we completely replace them with renewables before they do.
Sadly I don't see man (in general) as being that clever.
So it's up to me to capitalise on our stupidity.
    :)

Incidentally, I expect the Saudi's, Iranians and Russia doing a deal this Summer which will restrict production again and push oil prices a lot higher.
Otherwise they are just wasting what they have and Saudi must have exhausted it's massive reserves by now.

    Interesting looking portfolio that.
Sorry, I should clarify that is just what I've invested so far this tax year (2016/17).
It is not my whole portfolio, by a long shot.
The rest has been focussed much more on 'safe' funds in the UK and Europe.
I use the 'pyramid' approach to all my investing:-

    Build a 'safe' base layer.
Then you can be a little more adventurous with the next layer.
    And the next.
    Etc etc etc.
I have been fortunate enough to have been doing this for a while and am almost at the point where the profits of this strategy become self-funding and perpetuate my investments for future years.
At which point I will retire and attempt to live via the 4% rule.
    :)

Hi, does anyone know how I can find the percentage of something on a calculator - duh ..... I really don't know. I have saved 6,200 out of 12,000 and I was wondering how to calculate what percentage I have saved of my total on a calculator. I did used to know a really easy way, but can't remember and I have googled it, but I can't find what im looking for. Thanks in advance.

Take your first number (saved so far) divide by your second (Total) x 100 to make a percentage.

    6200/12000 * 100 = 51.66% of your total saved so far.

Nice! Another FIRE starter? I am planning to do that myself. I am currently building my broad diversified base. How many % of your allocation are you allowing yourself to pick stocks? How far are you from FI based on the 4%?

I am sure there must be quite a few of us on here. :j

    That sounds very wasteful.

Hi fellow savers :) A question for you all: I have a regular saver account connected to a bank account, adn I'm considering moving the latter to another bank, as the high interest period is finishing. Can I move only the bank account keeping the regular saver or do I have to move both?
