Hi all,
Im looking to get the best rate for my current cash ISA balance which si due to mature in a couple of weeks. Its currently with loyds. If I leave it there it will earn 1.6% for next 2 years. The best rate I can find for a 2 year fixed (I dont want to fix for any longer) is 2.1% with Leeds Building Society. Ufnrotuantely the nearest branch to me is n Cardiff!! (which is miles away!). Are these guys regulated and covered up to £85k etc...?
Thanks

Why do you need a Branch? Can't you use online, phone, or even post?
Leeds BS are fully covered by FSCS, as you can see from their website. You usually have to be quick if you are after their good offer as they withdraw them very quickly due to high demand.0 -

Do Leeds BS force you to use a Branch for opening or operating their accounts? Remember, this thread is about the Leeds Building Society0 -

I've just opened a 2.1% 2 year fixed ISA with Leeds BS (in branch) and was told that the ISA is being with withdrawn at close of play today (Friday 10th April 2015). Deposits for accounts already open will however be accepted up to 31st May 2015.0

Crikey, I knew they don't usually last long but pulling it after just 4 days must be a record.0

That's interesting. I went into a Leeds branch yesterday 9th to open the 3 yr 2.2% ISA. I was told it was 2 weeks for an appointment. However I had an inkling that might happen and had already completed postal forms so they were posting them to head office that day. No mention of pulling the ISA. I was already a Leeds a/c holder. 2yr and 3yr FRISAs are still on the website.0 -
I can confirm that I opened a Leeds BS two year fixed ISA, for both me and the wife online via their website on the 8th April.
The process results in immediate confirmation of the account number and customer number and the process produces a printed document to sign and post off together with a 'deposit' cheque.
I also included an ISA transfer form in the envelope to transfer previous ISA cash to the same account.
The next day, I was able to login and see my account online and now just waiting for the cheque and previous cash ISA money to be deposited/transferred. The account allows further deposits upto 31 May 2015 to a maximum of £15,240.00 (this years allowance).
As far as I can tell you can still apply for this ISA online via their website.
The link still appears valid and active at this moment in time... 11 April 2015.
Hope that helps.0 -
Just checked the Leeds BS website - 1am Tuesday 14 April 2015 - It now appears they have withdrawn the 2.1% two year fixed term ISA on the basis of it being over-subscribed.
Well that didn't last long! It show that sometimes, you just have to get in quick.
The three year fixed term ISA at 2.2% is still currently available.0 -

Actually I was told this by the YB call centre but it appears to be wrong as I've since found you can print off an application form from the YBonline website and post it off to Clydebank.0
