Daily Mags - what is happening?

You can please some of the people all of the time or all of the people some of the time, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time.;)
After reading Toni's reply I can see where she is coming from and even though I am all for the mag daily thread, I also hate to think that people are missing out on potentially winning awesome prizes because they don't venture into the mag daily sticky so I can see why some people are calling for the individual threads to be posted back on the main board.
Whatever happens, I'll just work it into my comping system like I did before the mag daily sticky even existed.2019 Wins

3 is what I was trying to suggest
If the only - is that we get lots of extra posts on the main board, it'll only be 1 for each new comp per mag. I already skip far, far more than I enter
Plus we now have the X (Which we didn't have before) so it's no real hardship....Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
I'm probably going to get shouted at for this but I do wander if the people who are calling for the comps to be returned to the main board are aware of the time and effort these comps take to post and would be willing to take on some of this responsibility to make sure all the comps are posted on the main board?
There's no reason for you to get shouted at about this - it's a good question.
Glad said in the other thread that more volunteers will be needed.0 -
I'm not a bad person trying to cause an issue, there is an issue, no-one wants to offend Cornish who puts lots of time in that's understandable.
I've tried to help people see comps which aren't so apparent, yes they might be to you above, but many commented in the thread saying they weren't I'm not going to try and explain anymore as it feels very intense.
I'm okay in all of this, I can easily naviagte MSE and not need to miss out on a comp.
Others aren't hence I tried to help.
Toni, can I just say that I do appreciate what you were doing highlighting those comp and your reasons behind it. What it did do was bring a lot of people to to forefront saying that they wouldn't have seen the comps otherwise - which means that there is a potential problem. I just don't see it as a permanent solution.
PS. I also don't think you are a horrible person - a) you were trying to do a nice thing and b) your putting forward an opinion (everyone is entitled to that one!)0 -
Quite sad about all this
I found it so very helpful cos it enabled me to see the new dailies easily. I am so far behind with the main board due to health reasons, that I will never be able to pick them out easily from there. I do see the issues / reasons and also realise it is no-ones fault but my own, but the sticky enabled me to at least keep up with a few things....thank you to all of you who worked so hard on it :A

I really liked the way it was. As a new comper, I found the Mag Daily sticky the easiest way to get into comping, and the other stuff I did came after that.
I don't really look forward to having 20 or so listings for autographed toothpaste (seriously, that's one of the prizes now!) on the Main Board. Is it possible that instead of having each entry site in a separate thread, you could have all the links to the toothpaste prize be in the same thread, so if you really wanted autographed toothpaste, you could go to all 20 of the sites that are giving it away from one place?
Of course that depends on volunteers being willing to post all of this stuff, and I am very grateful for those who have. Thank you all, very very much. :beer:Hi, I'm Mich

I would like to say thanks to toniq for bringing this to our attention and to cornish for the daily mag thread :T
I am divided on this tbh, i barely use the daily mag thread as it's just too daunting for me, i'm sure there are many others that feel the same way but on saying that when all the comps were on the main board it really started to annoy me, as all there would be would be mag dailys on nearly every page.
If it goes on main page as well as the sticky then that's creating a lot more work for whoever volunteers, why cant people have a quick glance at the mag daily thread and bookmark what they want to enter?
I know there are probably some amazing comps i have missed, plus on the puzzle mag thread and there are also great comps on the postals threadquite a few comps are cash wins from 1-2k and there is a comp to win 10k, again only 100 odd people have thanked that post so lots are missing out if you dont visit the thread, the point is we cant possibly let everyone know about every single comp that are in stickies, people have to take responsibility of the way they comp, if they miss some then that's on them if they dont want to look at the stickies.
Some may disagree with this then that's fine, just my personal viewpoint.
I think things should stay as it is at least until after the advents, again thanks everyone for all the comps you post :T:T0 -
Aha I just found this thread after asking someone what was going on.
I love the daily type threads - I bookmark and check them each day to see what is new.
I hope everyone is okay and not to stressed outI like the current systems.
Wishing you all good luck!

I've thought of a new suggestion.
5) We could stick (no pun intended) with the stickied thread, as it is was until yesterday, ie the mag comps get posted there only. And then, one designated poster posts one thread per day on the main board, highlighting any new prizes.
eg
E: 01/12 Mag comp prizes inc. £1000!
New mag prizes (linky) today include:
A whopping £1000
A blu-ray player
£100 shopping vouchers
etc, etc
Plus don't forget to check out the click-to-wins!
Each prize is only mentioned once, not per mag, and a linky is included in the post to the first page of the sticky thread which has all the details (the first page of the thread on which today's comps are posted). End dates aren't included in the post, to keep things simple (they are on the sticky), and the end date of the comp could be the date of the earliest of the new comps closing dates. Thread title stays similar so people can recognise what it is, drawing attention to one or two of the newest prizes up for grabs.
+ Main board doesn't get clogged up. Sticky still exists for those that use it daily. New post daily on the main board draws attention to the sticky every day, so no-one misses out
- Someone has to take on the daily post (but this is less work that each comp being posted individually)0 -
this is far too early for April Fools
i thought i had seriously explained and put across a good and valid point as to why the mag dailies were running the way they were, albeit well after the fact that there was a poll deciding on how it would be run before it was changed over and the majority then went for the way its been running up until todaythere are 16 magazines with an average of 30+ comps per mag
there are currently 6 (this will prob dbl within 3-6 months) click2win sites with an average of 50+ comps per mag
i would rather these 780+ competitions be listed somewhere, in fact anywhere so that i have an opportunity to enter them, even if i have to hunt around and find them and bookmark a few threads and learn to read them properly, than them not be posted at all because the OP doesnt have the time to stick to the rules 'all competitions are meant to be listed on the main board'
wish i could add a poll
Option 1
780 individual comps posted to the main board
780 links to the end of the daily sticky thread
780 links copied to the front of the daily sticky thread
or
Option 2
half a dozen or so comps in one post at a time on the end of the mag thread
half a dozen or so copied to the front page in one go
and 1 post in the daily sticky thread pointing everyone where to go
yes there was a minority who didnt like it at the time of suggestion and i can only assume its the same people who are now moaning about things again
well ive been polite in the past, but im not going to be anymore
what i wanted to say on many a previous occasion was, put up or shut up
well now the tread is locked and the posters alienated, so its now time for the minority who voted against it being all in one thread to put up
and post every single competition (thats 780 btw) to the main board, then link to the end of the daily sticky
dont expect those who were doing a good job in the format that they preferred and found easiest to be able to afford their time to share the competitions with you to do it anymore - i know i wouldnt
PS - next you might like to start on the puzzler and take a break mag threads and have every single one of those competitions posted individually to the main board as well
