I didn't mean it as criticism Richie, I just wanted to say that I didn't forget to mention the name because it wasn't my priority at the time. I appreciated your retrieving the thread and I apologise if I seemed critical.
I was one of the people that was involved in setting up the votes for the petition name and wording, I wonder if we've come across each other elsewhere regarding this?0 -
And I'm sorry that you pulled your previous post, there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.0

I say place this Petition where it is most likely to get the maximum attention of MSE. Over 2000 page views is very good news and it is good of MSE.
I only hope it also translates into yhopefully doubting, however scared, however tentative, however questioning.
Lets get people power of these unjust welfare reforms which are not a process of JUST WELFARE REFORM that is needed plus all the other things that are neededl equality etc.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
Reading whatever books I want to the rescue!:money::beer[/B

We finally, belatedly, got our 10,000 signature written response today, for those who are interested. Make of it what you will...
This e-petition has received the following response:
As this e-petition has received more than 10 000 signatures, the relevant Government department have provided the following response:
Cumulative impact analysis is not being withheld – it is very difficult to do accurately and external organisations have not produced this either.
The Government is limited in what cumulative analysis is possible because of the complexity of the modelling required and the amount of detailed information on individuals and families that is required to estimate the interactions of a number of different policy changes. In addition, the Government's programme of welfare reform will not be fully implemented until 2017/18 and many policy details are still to be worked through. Equality Impact Assessments are however carried out for individual policies where there is a requirement.
No other organisation produces this analysis in a robust way. The Treasury does publish some cumulative analysis with each Budget but this is a broad brush assessment of all tax, benefit and expenditure changes since 2010 across households. Because the Budget cumulative analysis is so complex, it is not robust enough to break down by family type – so impacts on disabled people cannot be shown separately.
The IFS also produces some cumulative analysis but also do not feel the results are reliable enough to disaggregate for the disabled.
This e-petition will remain open to signatures until the published closing date and will be considered for debate by the Backbench Business Committee should it pass the 100 000 signature threshold.0 -

A 'cumulative impact assessment' is a good call, will it help - won't it work ? who knows !
I'll tell you what though, every single one of the millions could vote, armchair warrior or even totally bed bound, its a total investment of a mouse click or two, and a second or two ......... that's it .......... done.

Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. Absolutely, totally agree. And the petition is part of an increasing attempts from ordinary people to fight back - look at what We Are Spartacus are doing, and #ESAendgame on Twitter. It's a case of keeping the pressure up from all angles, in however small a way - it all adds up. Look at the concessions on the DLA to PIP wording and the Bedroom Tax. None of that would have happened without people asking.
wowpetition are preparing a reply to the govt 10,000 signature response btw, I'll link to it once it's done.0 -
Hi, hope it's OK to pop back and mention that we've now hit 40,000 signatures, hoping to press on and get the 100,000 sigs needed to be considered for a parliamentary debate. To this end, we're having a Mass Tweetathon tomorrow to raise awareness on twitter - more info HERE, if anyone would like to help by sparing us a tweet or two at one or all of 10.00am, 1.00pm and 9.00pm

#WOWpetition
Would also like to mention that one of the WOW team got Amnesty International, no less, to pass a resolution to halt the abrogation of the Human Rights of sick and disabled people by working with grassroots human rights campaigns by and for sick and disabled people, carers and their families and set up a specialist Disability Rights Network, similar to those they have for different causes. It's a long road, but things are slowly starting to happen...
