They reckon I can still save £245 by changing over.
Please does anyone know if you can make one off payments into your account before the bill becomes due.
The numbers in the quote can be misleading. 6% is likely to be worth quite a bit more than £15. What is your total "Estimated annual price" from EDF?0 -
Hi
It says estimated annual bill £1426 estimated monthly payment £120
Based on the info you have provided your estimated annual saving is £260 thats about 15% off your estimated annual bill on your current tarriff. The saving above is made up of £15 direct debit saving and £245 product saving.0 -
Joined them about a year ago, terrible problems with DD, not deducting money when they should, eventually the payments were sorted out.
The final straw was when they deducted over £400 from my current account and when I rang in the Customer Service Rep said I would need to approach my bank to reclaim the money through the DD Guarantee Scheme.
It annoyed me that the assumption was I could afford to wait to claim MY money back, also I'm the one left running around sorting out their poor admin\computer glitch - instead of them initiating a DD refund directly (not sure if they are able to do this-but if not they should have something in place to speed things up & taking the onus from me having to chase their mistakes up ).
Decided to cancel the DD and pay the bill directly & quarterly now, losing my supposed discount. Do not appreciate any company dipping into my Bank Account ad hoc.
Will be looking into moving towards the end of the contract.
Customer Service Rep had excellent customer service skills0 -
I wouldn`t have been happy about that, or having to sort it out. This is why I like being in control of my gas and electric bill. Wondering if its worth all the hasstle of changing, at least no one takes anything they shouldn`t.0

The bank and sort code details to do this can be found in MyAccount as well as a debit card payment screen. I would recommend setting up an online banking payment arrangement to avoid making data entry mistakes. The payment is reflected in your account balance AFAIR next working day.

Based on this I think you will find that if you pay by quarterly bill the charge would be approx £1,517 compared with £1,440 by monthly DD, a difference of £77 per year or £6 per month
If you call them they will be able to check this for you0 -
thanks, I must have mis-understood.0

Not your fault, it's not at all clear0 -
Its clear EDF have some real problems with DD calculation, but if you can live with calculating your own payments and getting EDF to correct them, you end up with the same risk as any of them.
Just ensure you give a switch reading.
In terms of sweeping the high value mentioned in an earlier post, check the t&c's which allow them to do this at the end of the 12 months. They only have to notify you of the variation but unless you contact them to stop it, the will do it. They can refund if they wish but if its owed to them, they may not agree to it, where as the DD guarantee allows you to demand it back as the bank will do it...but if you still owe it, they will be chasing you. I don't like this policy and the notification can be less than visible plus it means they don't check to see if they caused the buildup which is poor service.
So, its just a matter of monitoring them.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
