As with many sequences there is more than one answer, but I'm looking for a specific one. As a clue, the answer has charm, it's not the obvious “four numbers in a row then miss one” type answer
hhmmm one+one+four-one is the answer in this 113?0 -
I wonder if it is relevant that some of the characters in the first post are in dark blue rather than black?0

He was the first to come up with the correct answer (though it was phrased slightly better later).
The answer is 118.
The list is the HD channel numbers on sky in order starting with the first and the next one on the list is 118.
Congratulations Jimmy, pls pm me your address and we'll send the champagne.

Congrats Jimmy.
But where does 'charm' come into it?
(no, no I'm really not devastated at having spent around six hours on this)

But I don't feel I can accept it.
It was a group effort.
I wasn't anywhere near close until I saw Mathsguy's answer (post #55).
And as you say, BelleVueShrew's answer was much better put than mine. Suggests they knew what they were talking about rather than me who just wikied it.
Would you consider a charitable donation instead of the champagne?
Or if you've already got the bubbly, why not share it around the office - I'm sure the staff deserve it for all their hard work.0 -
Well done well deserved I would never of guessed a question on sky know nothing about it all I know would never get sky ever least it made my brain work thinking about maths.0

Congratulations on winning, this had me stumped.
However - is it me, or is the list NOT a list of Sky HD channels, but rather a list of regular channels that have an HD counterpart.
e.g. SKY1 (non-HD) is channel 106, but SKY1 (HD) is channel 170.
By my reckoning, the first HD channel is Channel 4 (HD) which is channel 140.
Maybe I am just being a pedant.0
