Using Yumi, install your first LINUX distro then install the hirenBCD after that. then any other linux ones you want.
So Hiren must not be the first one you install on the usb stick, but can come after any linux install. its got something to do with the way grub for dos is used. I'm using hiren 13.0 - works perfectly.

Oops- I see thats been mentioned before (Hiren 13)

BTW you can get the older hirens from http://www.hirensbootcd.org/category/all-versions/

Thanks to one and all for clearing up my confusion.
Looks like I need to do some serious reading before going anywhere with this.

Knowing things were working as they should, I cleared everything off the flash drive.
Using isobuster (already on pc) I extracted hbcd from Hirens 15.1 .iso, saved it to desktop, then copied it across to flash drive. Ran XBoot, dragged across Hirens .iso, used Grub4Dos emulation, Syslinux bootloader, created usb.

    :j Booted up perfectly. :j:beer:

Loads more stuff on there now compared to my old Hirens cd.

Need to go out, but working on another 'rescue' type .iso. ;)
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Hi all

Thought I'd resurrect this thread rather than starting a new one.
I want to create either a boot CD or a bootable USB drive and put on the following:-
A version of linux (possibly puppy or Ubuntu)
    The Avira Rescue disc)
    Hirens BootCD
anything else that could be useful

    Two questions:-
    1) Will they all play happily together?
    2) What order do I drop things onto the CD/USB?

This is more of a technical excercise than anything else (i.e. can I get it to work) rather than for anything serious (I'll get to that later) so any help gratefully received.

right, so you want a copy of MY bootable USB stick then ?? ;):) :rotfl:

    I have:-

    1. puppy linux
    2.avira rescue
    3.hiren's

just about squeezed on a 2GB stick, in that order, and they all play together nicely :D

...just remember, you need to add the HBCD folder (contained within the download zip) manually to the stick after you've done the xboot stuff or you won't be able to load any of the additional progs that come with hiren's :)

    Basically ..... yes ;) :rotfl:

I'm going to grab a 4GB one just to give me some maneouvering(?) room.

Can you think of anything else that would be useful to put on there?

Quick question, do I put Puppy on there first and make it bootable and then add the other stuff?

...... oh yeah, one more question, do I use xboot for adding the other stuff?

    gparted - perhaps
add them all at one go or one at a time use xboot for each , but it is possible if you know your way around grub and syslinux you can do it manually

you don't really need gparted as partitionwizard is on hiren's :)

basically, you just load all the ISOs into xboot and it then creates the stick....simples. You can then use xboot to add/remove stuff to it at a later date
