Anyone used Rointe heaters?

I've replaced all of our storage heaters with the gel filled ones and I can honestly say it is one of the best improvements we have made to our home. The rooms are always warm and the electric bills have been slashed. You get the main heat when you want it not when you are out of the house.
Storage heaters really are a waste of time and dated beyond belief. Sourced ours from the Economy Radiator company who were help full from start to finish.
One of the thermostats went in one of them and within 2 days the manufacturer sent a replacement out. 10 year warrenty aswell.
That sounds great but if you are now paying three times more for your electricity how does that work...? Makes me wonder why I spent so much on a heat pump :mad:0 -

How many kWh did you use per week before putting in the gel filled magic radiators?
How many kWh (each one costing about 3 times the price) do you now use per week?
Can you explain where the difference in energy has gone?
Your statement that storage heaters are a waste of time is at odds with the energy savings trust, who say
Modern slimline fan-assisted storage heaters are better insulated, so are better able to store heat until you want it. Their heat output is more controllable, so you can heat a room up more quickly or keep it cool if you’re not using it. And modern controls can automatically set the input and output settings, based on your preferred room temperature, the actual room temperature and even the temperature outside. Systems that do all of this are sometimes known as Celect type controls.
Modern storage heaters vary considerably in price, but expect to pay more than £100 each to have them installed. Once you have replaced all your old heaters with fan assisted models and Celect type controls you could expect to save around £150 per year on your electricity bills.
Furthermore, storage heaters adhere to the laws of physics, which the gel filled magic convector heaters don't appear to, if what you say is true.1 -

Care to tell us how much you paid for your heaters?
Are you of the opinion that they produce more heat for the same running cost than other cheaper heaters? - cos they don't!
Regarding the warranty - 10 years? - really?
http://www.economy-radiators.com/electric-radiator-guarantee.htmlThe radiator has a 10 year manufacturers Guarantee on all except the electronic control which is 3 years.
So if they spring a leak and you lose the 'magic gel' you are covered!1 -
What I'm saying is that they are better than the storage heaters they replaced and the rooms are at a constant ambient temperature and also our electric bills have come down so make your conclusions from that.0

People with experience of these things are a valuable resource on websites such as this. They are valuable because they can answer some pertinent questions which will help others, but simply asserting various claims over and over again isn't much help to anybody. I'll recap the quetsions you have been asked so far, assuming you are here to help people.
- How much did you pay for your heaters, and what is the spec (the heat output) of them?
- How many kWh per typical winter week did you use for heating before getting your new heaters
- How many kWh do you now use in a typical winter week.
- If there's a difference, are you able to explain the difference?
- - Are you of the opinion that these heaters produce more heat then storage heaters for the same amount of electricity used?
(btw, these are not 'trick' questions, just obvious questions resulting from your statements so far).
If you are here in the spirit of this board, which is helping others, I'm sure you'll have a go at answering, but if here for other reasons, then I expect you'll ignore the questions yet again.
Thanks for your time if you answer.1 -
No I was not avoiding the questions it's just that I gave my opinion based on experience.
I don't know what the power usages are but we have cut the quarterly bills by over £400 as we have also been able to get rid of the Economy 7 tariff and Npower.
The storage heaters were at the end of their life but as I've stated the new one's give out a constant ambient heat which you can never get from storage heaters plus easy to understand controls not just a "lets have a stab at guessing" set of dials0 -

Thanks for replying.
You say you aren't avoiding answering the questions posed to genuinely try to help people, yet you didn't and still don't answer. Ok, so you don't know how much energy you used before nor how much you use now, but what about the other questions you assert you aren't avoiding, but actually aren't answering?
- 1 -How much did you pay for your heaters, and what is the spec (the heat output) of them?
- 4 - are you able to explain the difference in consumption and hence running costs?
- 5 - Are you of the opinion that these heaters produce more heat then storage heaters for the same amount of electricity used?
Some more questions spring up from the answers about your electricity costs.
- 6 - Could you list your last couple of years of quartely costs and usage (day and night), and inform us of the date you installed your new heaters? (Usage and costs are easily available from your bills).
Your claim of £400 quarterly saving is immense, confounding and vague at the same time, assuming you live in a normalish house but thanks for taking the time to reply, and thanks again if you reply to this. I realise the questions may be intrusive (and you can always tell me to pee off), but I think they are necessarily so in order to explain the whole situation - I don't recall a genuine user posting here before, so you have valuable and rare experience.1 -

Nobody disputes that electrical heaters on a 24/7 tariff are less of a problem to operate than Storage heating.
However with Storage heating and hot water on cheap rate, it is very difficult to see how Economy 7 wouldn't be cheaper - let alone £400 a quarter more expensive.1 -
Hello everyone.... just joined yesterday. I have been reading with interest all the threads over the last two years concerning these heaters. The reason for my interest is that I have recently refurbished a small block of 5 one bedroomed flats and I have had fan convector heaters - with both timers and thermostats - installed in all the rooms, except the bathrooms - these had heated towel rails fitted. (There is no gas to the building) Upon inspection the Council have said these heaters are not acceptable and gave me a Rointe brochure (with the 60% saving blurb) telling me that I have to replace the convectors with the Rointe heaters (or similar)to comply, saying the convectors are too expensive to run (The tenants say they are not, but that's another story) 'Cardew' especially has made me think twice about installing these new heaters and I thank him for that - but if I don't do as they say, they will issue an enforcement notice and if I still refuse, they have the right to do the work themselves and send me the bill..! I am at my wits end to know what to do, so any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks again, Cardew..!0
