Oh dear, I'm really in a pickle now.
Just saw the posts about tax credit and to cut a long story short, from next year I am completely stuffed unless I can increase my hours, not possible with my arthritis/job/home situation.
Crying a bit now, will have a cuppa and compose myself for a serious bargain to cheer me up.

    Hi Wendy,

BIG HUGS!!! Feel free to PM me if you want to chat/sound off. We need to get our heads into serious glitching for savings next year :) Chin up and hopefully something will turn up for you xxx

P.S where did you get your 4p coat???? I can't find anything in S/E or P/S

    Hi de hi .......................

FK have you found any scarves round your way?? I'm in need of some after seeing all these gorge pics!

Eight stores i've done and only found two and one of them is no good!
  • morning. am reading this and eating mince pies covered in (free) custard is that wrong?
life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.
  • Re returning DTD items you can take back to another store and get a refund for the FULL amount you paid, confirmed by HO yesterday.
I didn't do it but I know someone who did without getting trouted.

Quite right. This has been discussed a lot recently.

Just to reiterate, DTD is a jesture of good will on behalf of Tesco's to say sorry for the overcharge and in no way affects your statutory right to return an item.

The only possible trouble people may have is where an item has since come down in price and the hand scanner at CS will tell the SA the CURRENT price. They may try to give you just the current price, but you are entitled to what you paid, but you may have to argue for it.

I thought I'd quoted a few posts but they got missed so I'll just say thank you to everyone that has posted with info/advice for me and everyone else. I'll have a look at entitledto later but at the minute all I can get is:

child benefit - now getting it 2 years after DS was born as ex had been getting it paid to him
WTC - I'm on additional maternity leave now so WTC has stopped for a few weeks
CTC - getting that one ok

    Things to look at:

housing benefit - I'm living in the marital home and the ex is paying the mortgage (as he should as he politely told me "the mortgage and house are in his name") so not 100% sure what happens when I get kicked out
income support - still employed so not applicable just yet. Also don't know if you get it if you make yourself unemployed or if it's only if you've been made redundant.

My conundrum is a balancing act between having a career and being in the red each month to live or giving up my career, going on benefits and getting a part time job but losing out on 17 years of education and 10+ years of hard graft to get to where I am.

And as for this thread, can we all thank Raven's post. All the moaners are trying to get MSE morphed into HUKD. If they don't like it here then they can do one. Sorry but not feeling great this morning and could do without anyone winding me up and that thread is something I think I should avoid the rest of the day.

I'm not around 'my way' at the moment so no idea. Could find non of the other clothing items around where I am yesterday and for me to go and do 2 or 3 big stores today is around 80 miles round trip so gonna give it a miss as the scarves wouldn't work out that cheap!

I'm on tax credits already but the problem stems from my job. Without sounding bigheaded, I earn too much to get tax credits normally (I've been on maternity most of this year so my P60 is a lot less than usual) therefore I have to pay childcare myself. I'd have to reduce my hours by more than half to get tax credits but that causes a new problem because from April 2012 you have to work 24 hours/week to get benefits so that would put me back above the threshold for WTC & CTC and therefore help with childcare.

    Rock ......... meet hard place.

I'm just reading through, so don't know if it's been answered yet, but if not...
    From http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcreditsbudget/index.htm#2

From 6 April 2012, the rules for couples with at least one child are changing. In most cases, to qualify for Working Tax Credit your joint working hours will need to be at least 24 a week.
    This will mean:
    • if you both work your joint weekly hours must be at least 24, with one of you working at least 16 hours a week
    • if only one of you works, that person must be working at least 24 hours a week

For single parents there is no change in hours worked.

    It's only a game
