  • stupid computer loosing everything I just wrote.
    have worked out I can mean plan this week + next 4 out the freezer contents - which is fab as I go back to work off mat leave next week.
    This is subject to change at short notice depending on:
    a) If hubby will or will not cook it on his days off (tues/ wed/ thurs)........... believe me I asked him to do mash one day and it realllllyyyy wasn't worth the hassle.
    b) If I have had a cr*p day at work.
    c) If hubby has already eaten it on a day when he wasn't eating what I was eating.

    Friday is always takeaway day as me and toddlerwiggle are always starving by time I finish work and pick him up at 6.... esp when his bedtime is as close to 7pm as possible.

    I haven't stated a potato product below for most meals but we choose from: waffles, fritters, croquettes, wedges depending what is in the freezer. I also cook chips if there is nothing in.

    Veg is a choice of carrots, peas, sweetcorn depending which i fancy (all frozen or tinned so no worries of having to use up before they go off). I also make sure there are always baked beans in.

    Other food we ALWAYS have access to: cheese, ham, milk, eggs, butter, potatoes, bread

  • Week 12

    Have realised that hubby has taken another extra £40 out and despite earnng some money it has vanished (i.e. been used up when we would have just made do without). Leaving us with £80 to last until the 10th November. Thankfully I have pretty much for all my monthly £100 left which will be used for holiday (see below).

    On the plus/ down? side I am back at work this week on Tuesday and Wednesday and heading down to see my mum on Thursday/ Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday/ Next Monday. I LOVEEE going home to mums as it means vertually no money coming out of my pocket at all :j (nibbles for both journeys, train tickets to see my daddy while there and thats pretty much it)

    Targets:

    Food shopping = £10
    Baby shopping = £20 (mum is getting me a stash so I don't have to take it on the train)
    Other essential shopping (cleaning products etc) = £0

    Random = £30
    Days out = £0

    meals out/ takeaways = £0
    Clothes = £0

    Sunday 30th October

    Promised toddlerwiggle we'd cook gingerbread so had to go buy butter and flour. (and jam for porridge, sugar for tea)

    Seen a lovely house while browsing online today - same road we are already on (same letting agency too) but looks like it'll be a bit bigger then ours (and £50 a month cheaper!!). We're gonna ring them tomorrow ask to go look and if its not falling to bits ask to rent it.
    We figure being same agency:
    - no credit checks
    - no deposit etc (in fact we should get money back as gave them £875 deposit on this one and they only asking £600 on the new one). - if they do want it I am gonna wack on a cc and pay off as soon as we get the money back.
    - no moving costs (can do it in a day and the men can carry things as its only literally 10 door away).
    - all windows etc same size as current one so no need to buy new curtains etc.
    - better planned house/ garden for bringing up kids in.

    OHHH am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited - woulda quite happily moved today.

  • I'm back - gonna give up this last few days/ week recording as a bad job what with holiday/ going back to work/ hubby getting shopping (**shock horror**) I've no idea what's been spent.

    Have worked out finances and we basically have (again.... hopefully so long as the tax credits go up to what i think i will) £100 a week to spend with an additional £100 every 4 weeks for food).

    Am going to go shopping Saturday and try and get as much off the next 2 weeks meal plan shopping for under £50. May change it as I think I will do a lot more mince based meals/ batch make some chicken soup as It's been reallly nice to be able to take soup out the freezer night before and take in for lunch at work.

    Will post back tomorrow or Saturday with my budget planning/ meal planning.

    ohh and bad news on the house - it had already gone :( on the up side the landlady has said all we have to do is say if we want to buy this one off her...... have told her it may be 2 or 3 years and she says that is fine :j:j

  • Week 13

    have set £50 target for 2 weeks meal plan (plus extras for hubby/ toddlerwiggle when they won't eat what I'm having). Then *hopefuly* £10 a week for top-ups (milk mainly). will already be over budget as I am on £42 and got to get fizzy pop and potatoes still. Hopefully tho the "extras" will last well into weeks 3 and 4 so the following 2 weeks should be cheaper.

    Days out etc will not cost as much any more as me and hubby are back to working opposite shifts. This is a bonus as some christmas pressies still to get.

    This money buisness is hard work (esp as not got tax credits confirmed yet).

    Targets:

    (2 week major food shop = £50)
    Food shopping = £10
    Baby shopping = £20
    Cleaning = £10
    Personal care = £10

    Misc = £10
    Impulse buys = £10

    Days out = £0

    meals out/ takeaways = £10
    Clothes = £0
    Presents (birthday/ Christmas) = £20

    Total available to spend = £100
    (+ £50 lge food)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Meal Plan (can't remember the rest will fill in tomorrow)
    Saturday - Spaghtti bolognaise
    Sunday - sausage, bacon, potato hot pot
    Monday - cheese/ ham/ egg potato bake
    Tuesday -
    Wednesday -
    Large food shop mostly done - £42.82
    baby wipes = 49p (bargain - discovered that asda value wipes are actually just as good as their little angel ones and a third of the price.
    washing powder - 50 wash - = £6.60 (I normally get the value but with the price of fabric conditioner at the moment it costs the £3 difference to buy that on top..... am happy to consider cheaper alternatives).
