Aldi/ Lidil wine

Aldi's German bottled beers (eg Berliner Kindl) are great, and the wine can be very good, IMHO the Hungarian Chardonnay is a bargain at £2.99. In Lidl the Baturrica Tarragona Gran Reserva red wine is well worth checking out.0

Another vote here for this one. :beer:0 -

I use their cheaper reds for gluhwein.0

I go to Aldi for the teabags for my hubby.
I don't like tea.
I like Gin.
That Aldi advert is a classic and the "old dear" is a star.
Back on topic, I think I'll try the Hungarian ones the next time I visit.

From Aldi:
The Baron white and rose @ £2.99 is great - just make sure it's chilled
I didn't like the Italian white at the same price as above, and I refuse to drink Chardonnay, regardless of the price. To me it tastes yuk.
I haven't tried any of the reds, as red wine makes me sleepy
Just beware that there are some "cheap" wines in both Aldi and Lidl where you think "ooo, that's a bargain". Until you spot the low alcohol content. Great if you don't want a boozy wine, but annoying if you drink a whole bottle and feel sober :rotfl:Call me what you like, I was a bit "tiddly" when I chose my username

I saw a thread about the spirits in Aldi/ Lidil and was wondering what the wines are like - £2.99 seems very cheap
I got this white british wine for about £2.70 it was really nice! Only 7% though.0 -
Aldi's Baron St Jean red wine £2.99 is a nice wine and it does the job. Good percentage. That's all i buy now. You watch they'll put the price up now0

I've tried quite a few Aldi red wines (rarely drink white as it makes me 'grumpy' according to my OH) and think they've all been very good. Maybe I'm a bit of a heathen when it comes to wine compared to some others, but I've drunk my fair share of it over the years *ahem:o* and I think I can tell a good bottle from a bad, if not perhaps in the most sophisticated way
Out of all of them I would recommend the tempranillo that I think is called "Toro Loco" and comes in a bottle with a bull's head fashioned from a corkscrew on the label. It's either £3.50 or £3.99, lovely smooth, fruity flavour and around 13%. We buy it all the time- great wine at a great price :beer:0 -
I tried the £2.99 English wine, Copper Beech
I think the Vineyard is linked into the RSPCA dog pound where the dogs pee up against the beech trees and the winery collects the liquid and bottles it
oh well back to the Lambrini
