Hope so. But does anyone actually look at a EPC?0 -
Survey Report (or lack of it)
Today "Anglia" were to survey my roof - to give a quotation for their £500 installation of solar panels.
They did not arrive at 12. I phoned at 1 and again at 2. I emailed a complaint a 4. I have still not be given an explanation or apology!
Now I have invited "ISIS" & "AShadeGreener" to consider me (theirs are free installations)17 Sharp Panels. of 230 watts (3.91 KW)

In my experience of selling a Victorian house (which would be a money pit of insulation nightmares as it was a typical terrace shape but it was detached) the answer is NO.
Of the dozen serious viewers not one asked for the HIP or EPC.
The £45 quid EPC was very formulaic (ie tick the boxes) and did not appear to take account of the fact that the house was long and thin.
(Roughly 14 ft wide and 45 ft long with solid walls and suspended floors).
HOWEVER all these EPC are being fed into a European wide data base and will be available for use as carrot information, for RHI purposes; and stick information, when it comes to refurbishment and future carbon taxation.
(Who would have thought 20 years ago that cars would be taxed on their carbon emissions:rotfl:)0 -
Having read the notice at the top of the thread, alluding to the fact that this is specifically to do with free solar panels, I'm kind of disappointed with the sheer number of self-appointed experts and know-alls that seem desperate to add pages full of their glib auto-didactic comments.
I don't care about the opinions of people who just talk but never do. Those I can listen to down the pub any night. All I really want to know is; have people had free solar panels installed, who by, and how it went/is going. I'm finding it really tricky to find that information on here, and I'm still at a loss as to which company to go with. Perhaps it is time to start a new thread with more relevance.0 -

No, you're right. You go for it! Jump right in at the deep end and whöre your roof out for 25 years. I mean, c'mon, it's only 25 years! What can go wrong? And DEFINITELY don't listen to people with expertise or industry experience, they'll only confuse you with "facts" and "numbers".
Go for it! In fact, get two put up! You just can't go wrong!

I feel my comment had much more point than yours!17 Sharp Panels. of 230 watts (3.91 KW)

Have you got any idea how childish that sounds?
Bottom line is that if I am looking online for information and I find a site that doesn't to me seem helpful - despite some of the people having direct personal experience - then I move on rather than posting an incoherent rant.0 -

Another long thread here for your perusal!

Includes input from those who have had such a system installed.
The two major questions most people want answered are:
A. How much will we save from having the system installed.
B. What are the legal implications of signing a 25 year agreement.
None of the ‘rent a roof’ systems have been in place 12 months, and none(I believe) have an export meter fitted, so it is not possible for them to determine how much they will save.
Evidence from those who have had their own PV systems fitted for some while(before the present subsidies) suggest between £50 and £100 pa is a reasonable estimate.
Most of the reservations about the 25 year agreement concern those who may wish to sell in that period.0
