Just so you know - I didn't answer one of my questions as I thought it was too difficult to find a good answer in 10-15 minutes, and I still got in. I think if you can't think of a good answer it's sometimes better to write nothing at all, rather than do it for the sake of it. After all, AQA's main priority is to get good answers to the questions rather than volumes...
  • Hi amyparr - well done on getting into AQA! you are sooo lucky!
Good luck with your exams as well.

That is interesting about you not getting one answer. The first time I applied I went as fast as possible so that I sent off the application as soon as possible. I averaged about 6 minutes on each question. The second time I took longer on each question and once I had finished I took some time going back in and going over punctuation etc to make it as good as possible. I averaged about 8-9 minutes doing it this time. I thought I found the answers to the questions but no joy as I got refused.

It looks like I'll have to apply for a second time, or rather I will have to apply for a second time

I thought I would be the kind of person they were looking for, but I was wrong. If a Business degree, an HND in Legal Studies, data entry experience and large amounts of spare time aren't of use for something like AQA, what is? They certainly couldn't have failed my application on the grounds of spelling or grammar.

    Poor form.

At least that rant has made me feel a little better.

I appreciate your frustration, Bren, I hope you'll have another go!

I have been working for AQA for a few weeks, and I just wanted to say that, in my opinion, AQA don't just look for perfect spelling and grammar. They have a very strong identity, and are looking for people whose style of writing is likely to be able to fit in with this. If you have been rejected, and are certain your spelling, grammar, and content are 100%, I would suggest examining your tone and answer style.

The aim is for customers of the service to feel that each response they get is from the same 'person' and not from many different researchers. If you are unsure, and haven't done so already, take advantage of their free question to get a feel for the answer style.

    Hope that helps

  • Yippeeeeeee! I sent back my application on Tuesday (1st attempt) and I've just heard that I'm in (subject to induction, of course) :j
  • Well done Pink_elephants_n_lemonade!!:D

    That's great news!
  • I sent my application off yesterday. The last question threw me a bit so i just waffled lol. Can't see me being accepted.
  • Regarding missed questions. I just wanted to point out here that when you're working for AQA they are quite happy for you, indeed you are encouraged, to pass on questions you don't feel you can answer. So not answering one in the test is almost certainly better than fudging it. Quality is what they're looking for - and an ability to strictly follow guidelines. To be honest, if doing things your own way is your forte AQA will drive you mad! :rotfl:

    Good luck to all.
  • I'm filling in my test now. Got a female dog of a question that I can't find an answer to! I know I can't ask fo help in answering it, but can anyone recommend a site that helps with word puzzles?

    Hi,

Are they accepting applications from people in UK again?

    Hi,

I imagine they will be in a couple of days.
