Is the ruling that will eventually come (hopefully) going to apply to business accounts as well?

HSBC has a statement on their website too, reads like the Abbey one: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/popups/fsa-charges;jsessionid=0000hFRPtGOMXSfpCT3PulcRlyM:11j56r6g2
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Any idea of how long it will be for this "test case" to be resolved? My claim against Nationwide was issued on the 23rd July and was to be served at Northampton on the 28th July. I take it my case will be put on hold but for how long?

Could be a year or more.

  • I am in early stages of claim and have so far sent first letter giving them 14 days to respond.

I have received a response which simply says they are looking into my complaint and have sent me a copy of the complaints procedure. It has now been over over 2 weeks since they received my letter. I assume this is just a stalling tactic so what now?

Does anyone know if this is the point I threaten legal action, or is this pointless given yesterdays news?

I personally wouldn't waste your time taking it to Court. Test case proceedings could take a very long time - see Beate's reply.

Biggest mistake of my life taking this through Court - the FO would have got my money back months ago :mad::mad:

A year? I don't know how it can take that long to figure out that we've been way overcharged for bounced DDs, cheques for years. And the banks will probably win IMO - they've got that much money to lose and the OFT seem a little too close in all this to put up a decent fight....

Send them the second letter telling them you will be taking them to court as this letter will then make sure your claim will be on their system and they will write back saying your claim has been put on hold etc etc.
