No set up fee: if you migrate from another broadband supplier
Monthly usage :I would go for 3 gb at £11.95
Speed: as fast as your line will allow up to 8 meg
No 12 month contract: its monthly
    UK call centers
You can but extra download as and when you need it.

    Spudette.

Those 2 ones you posted above have really poor monthly limits. In your first post you said a "and quite a lot of downloadableness!"
1 and 2 gig limits will not give you this!

I can't stress this enough; you get what you pay for in the broadband market. You couldn't pay me to take broadband with some of the ISP's being mentioned. For my sins I work on tech support desk and I woudn't put my worst enemy on some of those isp's.

Look at this site. Everything in green is fine, orange is ok depending on your needs, if its red I would avoid at all costs.

You will still pay the setup fee with Orange in the long run.

    DO NOT GO WITH ORANGE

I have read some terrible reports.

Orange are the lowest of the red's. EDITED ( I just re-read what you said you meant orange band not ORANGE the company)

If you are new to broadband pick a low speed (0.5 - 1Meg) with a high cap (20meg) then with the lowish speed you wont reach the caps so fast.

Also pick one with a monthly contract then you are not traped into a possible poor service for a year or more (yes some are 18 month).

So make sure you understand and read what you are signing up to.

As I said at the start you get what you pay for.

    EDITED:

I was surprised to see Orange were at the bottom of the list and a little sad about it, a relative used to work for Orange mobile and they were a great employer. It's sad to see them at the bottom for ADSL.

You just buy extra download when you want it and bank it till its used. :D

steer clear of anything linked to
    PIPEX ....or.... HOMECALL.

Thought I had a good deal, untill I tried to leave after 12 months, and was told a new contract had started, and had to pay a settlement fee if I wished to leave them..... have complained to offtel and await there response !!

who can you trust ? not PIPEX I can assure you.

    Good Luck

If you choose something like Zen at least you are only tied to a one month contract, you can choose the cheapest package and upgrade if you wish, and if you don't like you can leave. Whereas with something like Orange you are stuck with crappy service for at least twelve months. Also take into account the cost of all the calls to customer sevices you are likely to have to make. Currently with Orange and considering my options for moving. Zen seems most promising for the above reasons, though have to take into account the extra cost of buying all the wireless stuff to get 3 machines online.
