Have a good weekend all!
I can post a link to the Aspergers test for adults - I can feel a fellow spirit. In fact, quite a few of those:rotfl::rotfl:.
Good night all.

Morning all!
I promised that I would put some grounding exercises on here for a few people....The ones that I favour, are as follows:- If working in an area that you know is going to be "challenging", perhaps with difficult people, who may be inclined to be very negative etc, just imagine yourself in a protective bubble, where any negativity, unnecessary and non-constructive anger etc will therefore not be able to penetrate the bubble, and will just bounce straight off - leaving you inside your bubble being able to deal with the situation/person/environment you are with but without absorbing any of the toxic stuff because it has simply not reached you. I use this one every day as I work with a very "challenging" person, and I am forever getting comments from colleagues about how they don't know how I manage to cope....my bubble is my secret weapon, and as a result my salary has doubled in the last 2 years.....
- When you wash your hands after visiting the bathroom, imagine any negativity disappearing down the plughole with the water. It is a very simple, but very powerful technique but if you suffer from any sort of handwashing OCD, this one is not going to work as intended, so steer well clear!
- My favourite one if you have more than a few seconds is to sit with your feet firmly on the floor - barefoot if poss but not essential. Close your eyes and just imagine you are rooting yourself like a tree to the core of the earth. Feel how stable that makes you (remember, a tree that has no roots will blow over easily in the wind, a tree that has firm roots will withstand all but the most extreme of storms). Then, be aware of the energy that comes from the earth - give it a colour, and visualise that colour coming up from the earth, through your feet, and all the way through your body - giving you a very positive energy, which combined with your strength and stability will see you through the toughest of days! If you want to you can, as part of the same exercise, then visualise a "higher being" in the area above your head, ackowledge the power that you feel from that area, and give it a different colour or perhaps a bright white light etc, and then visualise that colour entering your body from the top of your head working downwards, and intertwining with the "earth's energy" that is coming up from your feet. Absolutely amazing..... and you will be ready for anything!!

The other two things I would suggest are:
Don't forget the power of positive affirmations - write out your 3 or 5 positive statements for the day and repeat them throughout the day - the only thing is that you must say them with the belief that they are true - I have heard some people say "yeah, yeah, I am a strong positive woman, what evvvvverrrrr" type thing - not exactly the attitude I was looking for!!
Also, if you ever want instant confidence, visualise a circle in front of you - about the size of a hula hoop. In that hoop, place all the good things you want to have with you - confidence, energy, fun, butterflies, pink glitter, basically anything that will make you smile inside and give you the feel good factor. Then take a step inside the hoop so you are standing in amongst the glitter and butterflies, and pick up the hoop, lifting it all the way up your body and over your head, so that you are now surrounded from top to toe with those fabby things......and away you go, taking all those fab feelings with you.
This also works well with children, who can also make it into a magical cloak that no one can see. Is great for children who lack confidence or are generally feeling a bit "meh" about things.
Hope these things help!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi - lurker here:hello:
It's taken me about 2 weeks to read through the thread and that alone has made such a difference to my mood, you are all so inspiring. I do however have a small question.....
Quick background,
*OH has been out of work for 8 months
*Finances have just arrived at the dire point
*Monday last week OH had 2 interviews
*Monday morning at work I wrote a letter to the universe (haven't read the book so it was hope over ignorance)
*Tuesday am - OH has now got job, starts this Monday coming:j(temp but could become permenant but means we don't lose the house yet:D) and only 5 mins from home
*Unsealed the letter to the universe and popped in a thankyou note.
Now it seems churlish to throw away the envelope (put it in one as I have it on my desk at work and didn't want my colleagues to think I was nuts:rotfl:)
So what do I do with it?
Tempted to carefully burn it as an offering but not sure.0 -
No idea JayJay, but what great news for you both :j.
I'd be tempted to keep it as a reminder of when things were really bad, and the universe stepped in to help.
(I too would have put it in an envelope)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi JayJay - my letter is tucked behind a photo in a frame of my two ds's, between the photo and the card IYSWIM.
No-one but me knows its there but me - and it makes my heart sing whenever I look at the picture containing my most precious things, my boys and our dreams for the future.
I use a bell-jar technique hypno. I imagine a great big glass bell-jar coming down over my head with the "Thunderbirds" music blasting through my head - just because its so silly it makes me laugh
"dum diddy dum, dum dum dum, dum diddy dum, dum dum dum,"
Inside that belljar nothing can get to me - all the negativity bounces right off.
If I am feeling "meh" I ofen imagine I'm standing inside a shower all the negative stuff comes swirling off me like grey paint down the plughole - then i step outside me shower and am dried by a golden fragrant breeze that fills me up from my toes to the tip of my head with shimmering energy.
Some people I know can even tell when I've done that - ds1 says that I am "fizzing" of "filled with sparkles"
ops nearly 9 - gotta go do a caching call, but will be back soon.

Thanks for that MG - have just the perfect photo of my 3 when they were small (now 26, 22 and 21).0

Wow, thank you for the grounding exercises Hypno, I'm going to email them to myself and really use them - as I too work with a challenging couple of bosses who unfortunately I have let get to me to the point where recently I nearly asked to be signed off work as I've been so stressed about even driving to the office
Things are getting better slowly but it's a real incentive to get out of that atmophere.....but in the meantime if I can work in a nice safe bubble, here's hoping it'll make the next few months/years until I'm ready to walk out of there with my head held high bearable!!

Thanks Hypno - I'll use these although the most challenging people I work with is probably me; everyone else is really great.
I read my letter to the Universe to OH - I was away when I wrote it. His reaction? 'You are a really, really good writer, you know! I've always believed it but now I get regular proof.' But then he is lovely. I have to put the letter in an envelope.
Interestingly, when I feel things getting a bit too much I close my eyes and imagine the world around me - then start putting the light up. The effect is very similar to what MG described. Colleagues have started commenting I that I look happy.
I forgot to say yesterday that I have been invited to give another keynote lecture in Oxford - this is the second in couple of weeks. These are also in two reesarch fields I decided to move into couple of years back - but not the research field I am really known for (and in). Things are moving...and in the right direction.
