I hope this isn't really rude but because it's quiet here tonight anybody got 15 minutes to advise Ruby, I've just been reading her diary and I can't think of anything to help. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=37126540&postcount=53Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000

Baking mama, you must be joking! You can't seriously feel old in your 30s - or shall we say feel your that your life choices are reduced!
I have never bought into the age thing - on anything really. People say 'oh, it is the middle age spread' as if this is an inevitability. Yes it happens later in life because we eat more and move less. When I was 40 I decided that I'll learn to swim - could not float even - and my friends told me that learning is difficult at this age. Six years later people asked whether I teach swimming. I ran my first marathon two weeks after my 45th birthday - two weeks after my 48th I'll be running my fifth marathon. And intend to win one when I am 80 - this is probably the only way I'll win a marathon anyway:rotfl::rotfl:.
At any physical age 'feeling old' is used as an excuse not to do something - in your 30s your life is just begining.

So today is my last full day in London before I head off to Kampala tomorrow eve. My friends have made a really big effort to see me and give me a nice send-off so I am feeling very loved
Here's to the next 8.5 weeks of PhD fieldwork. Thanks for that quote about the mosquito that's amazing :T
Look after yourself, Lara - will be thinking of you. Any problems (with the technicallities of fieldwork) - get in touch. I mean it.

Good evening Memorygirl, good evening all,
it is time for a proper update, I suppose.
1) Today I tested Flylady's statement that anything can be done in 15 minutes. You can't mark a Masters disserattion in 15 minutes - even I could not, even using MG's techniques did not work.
2) Our house is still a building site - but we have two working toilets (down from four) and still no shower.
3) I have never mentioned but I am a high Aspergers scorer - under clinical but high. I am an academic after all. But doing this work on the house has made me realise how serious this is - I used to joke about it. My stomach is in a knot because the order is broken - even worse my order is broken. Anyone who can offer help with this please do.
4) Today I learned that wonderfu OH has arranged for the kitchen ceiling to be taken down next Thursday when I'll be in Brussels. This means that I'll be back after a 15 hours day and will find my kitchen without ceiling and the rest of the house covered in dust. We also are not going to have kitchen over the weekend. At first I panicked and then the solution hit me - we just have to find three friends to feed us on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
5) I have often wondered how little it apparently takes for people to change their behaviour - usually for the worse. Well, after over 40 years of dedicated morning tooth brushing this morning I forgot. I suppose trying to maintain any hygiene habits is pointless at the moment.
And, like Hypno, I find this evenings task from Mr Big easy. I recently wrote on 'crisis' and know exactly when mine was. A year ago when OH told me how much debt we have - I thought I'll leave him, I'll kill him, I'll ingnore him...but then I got back my wits. Since January 2010, we have reduced our montly expenditure by about £2000 (without deprivation but loads of planning and ingenuity) and have paid £22009 off the debt. Yes I can do this.
