spoke to Mothercare this morning, orders are being cancelled today, they know it's an error, not a genuine sale, so don't think anyone will get them. Chap I spoke to said that they don't have any stock even at full price.0

i'm sure you do. but, you're kind of missing the point (whilst going to unnecessarily great lengths to back up your own argument).
it's either a mistake, or it isn't. and neither you, or i, actually know, do we?
edit: i meant first hand experience working for mothercare. otherwise, your explanation of how their business functions is no more than an educated guess.
It is pretty much how all online businesses function - there are a few exceptions - but the reasons we HAVE to function this way is because of the threat of being sued if we make a mistake on Monday morning and put the wrong price or stock amount in.
You should take it as an education as to why, when you place an order for something that is a glitch or a mistake, there is no onus on the company to supply you with the goods if there is a mistake. They can even change their mind about selling it at that price, but if they have not taken your money there is no onus on the company to give you those gooods, they will just cancel your order and cancel the authorisation you gave them.0 -

You have to be in it to win it! And if it didn't work this time, then so what....nothing ventured, nothing gained. In my experience sometimes orders will be honoured, and when that is the case there is nothing to beat the warm, fuzzy feeling of an absolute steal.

I told you yesterday how it works because some people seem to think that they have a 'formed contract' and I was explaining why they had not. But no, other people seemed to think they knew better than me so I was setting them right.
At least you'll all know how it works for the next time something like this happens - won't you.
The odd order will probably be honoured - the whole of the UK trying to buy it at that price then no, it won't. These boards are their own worst enemy. The best thing to do of course, when you find a glitch or bargain like this, is to order one for yourself, keep it quiet until you actually have it in hand and THEN tell the world about it!!0 -

is what I am referring too, people took a chance and some people are going to be upset and disappointed. The fact you appear to be revelling in it is distasteful.
anyway I will abide by the rules of this board and refrain from further comment.0 -

Upset and disappointed? It's a car seat!! I can see parents and children crying over breakfast this morning because they did not get their car seat for £9. This is exactly what I mean by people getting a grip on reality. Maybe you can sue Mothercare for trauma instead and then have enough money to buy one. [where is the sarcastic smiley when you need it?]
Revelling in it? No not at all - putting right the people who told me I was wrong is not distasteful.
I explained last night that it would be a mistake and what would happen so people should not expect them but no, others told me I was wrong, their car seats were coming and they had a bargain and they were overjoyed. They were not interested in hearing that Mothercare actually had not taken their money and that I had too much time on their hands by pointing this out. Someone even told me I was p!ssing on their fire because I had pointed this out and that Mothercare should do that. Snidey comments such as being a 'know it all' because I know how online business works, what are they is they then?
Reality check people. Go back to using the car seats that you had before the £9 one came along.
The sad thing is that a few of you guys probably needed the seats like the lady whose son had grown out of the last one, the rest bought it because it was cheap. or because they did not want to move the car seat from one car to the other so bought 3 - and this is why companies do not honour the glitches anymore, because everyone wants that bargain even if they do not need it.0
