Well I think most people who are thinking of modding their Xboxes aren't interested in playing backups. The essential functionality will be XBMC.
Just google up, there are plenty of websites that will help you re diy modding.

    Totoriko - noted.

However it seems XBMC just means you can play dvds xvid photos etc - My dvd player does this so where is the big deal.

I realise I must be missing something but bear with me.

It's the fact you can set it up to stream things off your network and/or the internet. e.g. Internet radio

A work colleague has 4 Xboxes set up in his house and a NAS device and a computer are also on his network. The computer has a TV card in it which he sets to record from any of the Xboxes. The recorded program can then be streamed to any of the others.
They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.

Also does anyone have a good site to visit for info re modding/replacing hardrives and the XBMC I keep hearing about?

Very easy to do - You just need an original copy of 'Splinter Cell' - A memory adapter with the magical Game save stored and the softmod installer CD.

If they were giving out double quantities, they will be showing a stock level but won't actually have any left!

Also, they've taken the Xbox off the standard search after the listing page - the actual product page now only appears if you type in the catalogue number!
