re the love it or lose it...

26 years ago I was given beautiful cutlery for a wedding gift

I used it sparingly (saved it 'for best') for years - then I changed my mind and now it's the set I use every day...so I remember those who bought it, with love.

I now try not to save stuff for best but use and enjoy it.
Clutter (ornaments) I don't love (or have tired of) has gone. Books I know I won't read again have gone. My sole criteria now is do I like it or use it...not bcause it was given to me or it cost a lot.

Going to tackle my ironing now. My Nan's nursing home have warned me that she is very poorly and I may get a phone call tonight. She has been hanging on since before Christmas. I was terrified she was going to heaven when we were celebrating DD1's 18th. Now I'm crossing my fingers she doesn't do it on DS3's birthday (Wednesday). I saw her on Friday as it was her birthday (94). She's not my beloved nan anymore:(

School uniforms are unbelievable. Ours are allowed to take coats but they have nowhere to hang them up. Cloakrooms and lockers were given up on some time in the early nauties. Mine have to walk for 35 minutes to school and they freeze in winter and boil in summer as they aren't allowed to remove their blazers unless it's a zillion degrees as it "reflects badly on the school when they are seen in public".

    Sacrilege!

DD just came into the kitchen and asked if she could have a bit of the chocolate stash that's accumulated over the last week or so. She spied the small box of chocolates that arrived this way from the Mum with 5 children who was at Chichester and asked if she could have one. I agreed and then she said well if you have one and I have one, if I cut two in half we could try a bit of each. I agreed to that idea.

I turned my back a moment then when I turned round, she was only using my fish filleting knife which I've told her NEVER to touch!

    Sacrilege I tell you. Sacrilege!

Mind you, the chocolates were damned fine!
