Pasta Carbonara
90g cheddar
10g grana padano
400g pasta penne
100g bacon cut into tiny pieces
garlic
50ml veg oil
cook pasta until al dente.
whilst it boils fry tiny pieces of bacon in another pan, using thir own fat to stop them burning.
drain pasta reserving 100ml of the cooking water
add the water back to the bacon pan, stirring to dissolve the bacon juices. Add the pasta to this, and then the melted cheese and garlic. Stir until all the penne is coated with cheesy bacony sauce.
Serve with 3 slices HM bread to mop up the juices.

arty yes, I would. You'll need something to cook the carrot cake in. I would personally get square or rectangular ones. As it's then easier to portion out the cake.0

arty- baking sheet (s) for your pizza bases, a fish slice for serving your omelette and flipping your veggie burgers with. Have you got a sharp knife for vegetable prepping?

weezl I only got 20 pieces from my carrot cake. I think I cut it badly but I can't imagine getting more than 24 pieces out of that recipe.
Just thought I'd mention it.0 -
arty I would go for the larger the better. Especially if you're doing weezl's full recipes. I guess if you're doing less then a medium size would work ok.0

good mention
our squares were approx. 2 ins by 2 ins by about 1 inch high. They are about 125 cals per piece.
I'm totally up for people having bigger pieces less often IYSWIM? It was more about spreading it out over each day month in my head. DH has a 3 times the size piece after tea as his pudding, but is not a big snacker, so I guess that's how it evens out for him. We're only 45 cals per person per day under our theoretical target, so fingers crossed no-one should go hungry...
Though, I wonder if people are wondering if hunger will be a problem because the snacks are a concern.
Please be brutally honest, did people look at the planner and think 'oh boy! W're going to be starving!' it's totally fine with me to say so if you did

weezl I didn't think that when I saw it.
I think it looks like 3 decent meals a day and I have something to give people when they get in from school and also something for after dinner.
My children aren't big eaters at lunch time, usually a sandwich and a piece of cake, sometimes some fruit.
Of course DH and I have been used to eating more so I think it's going to be more of a shock for us.
My main thing when looking at the planner is the repetitiveness of some of the meals and similar meals being close together. That's not a problem, though, just an observation.0
