You can freeze eggs. For the omlette you could make the filling and leave it to cool then portion it out in bags, beat the required egg in a cup then pour onto the filling, seal and freeze. When you need it just get them out in the morning and leave to thaw, cook as normal. Easy.
I also slide a cracked egg onto a plate and into a ziplock bag for fried eggs. They look a bit cloudy on the yolk before cooking and they are not runny yolks but they are fine otherwise.

As a supporter of fair trade too, I thought you might like to know that sainsburys basic tea that is 28p is fairtrade! I don't know what its like, since I have never drunk tea, but thought i'd let you know. I found out when they was discussing fairtrade savings in the os section!

Thanks, It is a good idea to give them a try. Now all I need to do is try to find someone going near a Sainsburys as we are abour 40 miles from one!!!

We are 35 miles from Asda but they do deliver.

weezl I will be ready to start on plan 1 on Tuesday but I have also sent a pm.

Quick question if that's okay guys... The apple curd - am i right in reading that the cores are included? Seems like it could be something to look into at some point soon(ish) for us :)

  • Pink hayley, that's a great list.

Today's thought is,as Shirley may be a novice cook, does it need to include a paragraph about only cooking something once and reheating it once and not re freezing defrosted foods without cooking them first?

Please dont feel you have to include anything that I suggest. One of the things I can be good at is making unusual suggestions and thinking in a slightly different way. Please see my suggestions as just that, and hopefully a stimulus to others thinking too. :)

    Welll....
I am in the carry on camp :D:T

I had toyed with trying the first planner, myself, and substitute the stuff I dont eat.
I also am looking forward to any other planner(s), to do the same... just to see which one adapts best into MY lifestyle.

    Morning all :)

I've been reminding myself of a few good things about our project and feeling pretty excited.

I realised the testers are due to start on the 6th April. I only started this thread on 6th feb! Just 2 little months, and it's gone from
nothing to a big fat something in that time. And massive is credit due to all of you for that :T:T:T:T.

OK so where are we and where do we need to get to?

Well, the next big important thing is that the testers are beginning on tuesday. So I will have my work cut out before then :eek:in getting things ship shape.

A few things specially directed at the testers, but of course others can chip in...

1 i'm hoping/guessing it's alright with you if the month 1 spend is a little above the £100 (Max 2-3 quid) because you will have leftover meals/foodstuffs at the end of it (hopefully to the value of the £2-3. this is because it is very difficult to know what things we can lose from the shopping list until we've tried it.

2 where you'll shop: I have no need for you to do the entire shop at asda if that doesn't work for you. Especially in the case where the ingredient is exactly the same. An onion is an onion, so if you get them cheaper at your local co-op, or market, then please do so :) It would be helpful if/where you can you could stick to the list for things which may have a significant taste impact on the recipes. If posh nice brand tinned tomatoes are on special offer it would still be really good if you didn't mind giving the planner a whirl with the smartprice ones :o

3 If anyone would like to, and no pressure at all, this is a very personal thing, but perhaps people's DDs/DS's etc might think it was a fun part of the experiment, the testers could weigh themselves(absolutely no need to post your weight on the diary thread!!!!) but thriftlady did this when she and her family ate wartime rations, and some readers were intrigued by whether the family's weights went up/down or stayed the same. All I would be asking for here if anyone fancied it would be a little summary at the end like: Me: weight stayed same, DH: lost 2 pounds, DS1: same, DD1 lost 2 lb but she is happy about that...

    or something. IYSWIM?

4 similarly, if you would feel able to, please over the month perhaps post weekly how you and your family are feeling? Health wise I mean :D Also how much resistance/compliance you feel you are getting from the others/feeling in yourself.

5 If you/any family member give up, please do say why if you feel you can, else we might always wonder if it was the food, or something else. If real life is full on and you want at any point to stop, please do, but it would be great if you could post to briefly say that. If it is the food that's making you stop, please say that too rather than spare my feelings! If it is not nice or you don't feel well on it then that is very useful feedback :)

6 I'm assuming you've read enough of the thread to know which nutrients I've had chance to analyse in detail and which ones I haven't. If you are at all concerned about a deficit perhaps consider a multi vitamin/mineral. There are some at asda/tesco that are 1p per tablet.

7 Can I ask the testers to please use the time between now and tuesday to drain down your freezer supplies a bit, cos I think you're going to need some space! Arty + ariarnia you will need less space, but it might be still worth trying to create as much room as you can :)

ARTY PLEASE PM ME YOUR ADDRESS FOR LOAF TINS! I'm a bit worried about postal delays over the bank holiday :)

Ariarnia I have a spare set of digital scales if that would help you with the experiment?

OK 2 admin tasks for today that I don't think I'll have space for, as both the boys have appointments re health stuff today and I need to do some spreadsheetery:

:D please can someone PM ariarnia, and link to this post and the one where I talked about adding in extra calories if people were extra active etc...

:D please can someone PM the board guide I think it's Jo_R? edit: nope its jo_b (click to find her to send a PM.) and ask if it's ok to plop the second thread on here too or if there's a better place (you may need to explain what it is as BGs don't have chance to read everything :))

If anyone is willing then please say you're going to do it, so's Ariarnia doesn't get 10 messages and BG none :rotfl:! Thanks :)

back in a bit, Love Weezl x
