money out = money in = simple
Payment clearance times have nothing whatsoever to do with opinions or viewpoints.
They are clear hard and fast facts that are made clear to you on the reverse of each statement and you chose to ignore these terms, assuming that your "viewpoint" would overrule your bank's and Capital One's clearing systems.
You were proved to be wrong, and are now kicking off a fuss because your "view" didn't (I'm guessing some form of telekinetic transference should have converted your view into a change in the way their clearing systems work?) turn out to be correct.
You were wrong, all you can do now is
1. Learn your lesson and not do it again
2. Be ignorant and continue to be charged and potentially damage your credit file

There are plenty of electronic transactions that take place
where the money is transfered straight away.
The due date is when I paid, so then that is when they
should have received the money.
It's just a way to trap people....
I find Eydon's reply quite biased towards capitol one,
and wondering who he works for.......
Your haiku needs some more work, good sir.

I agree with the op gripe. Why if the banks can take money out of my account the same day I have brought something from a shop or used a cash point but they can not do the same when I want to pay a bill.
It shows the amount I want to pay has gone of my balance to sit in there account for 4 days.
When we used cheques I could understand it but this is what modern computers and cards was designed to stop and make transactions quicker.0 -

At the end of the day your bill tells you how long before the due date you should make payment to clear in time. If people do not read this then they only have themselves to blame - the OP can't even read the name of their CC company correctly - CAPITOL 1, never heard of them0 -

Good ol' Barclaycard eh?0 -
It's pretty damned obvious this forum has been hijacked by credit card employees,
one of you admits used to do that....
I came on here to get views from consumers with similar experiences, not from
from a bunch of dodgy shills that say CAP 1 is a decent company.
I go elsewhere now for my credit advances,
and not been turned down either...!0 -
Always a shame to lose a valuable poster who throws their toys out the pram when others don't share their somewhat distorted point of view. If only they'd stuck around, they're have learned valuable terms like "payment clearance times"."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0

Capital One are enabled for Faster Payments.
I made a payment from internet banking and was actually surprised to see that it was showing when I logged into their website a few minutes later.
Which bank were you sending the payment from or did you pay with your debit card?EXPOSE_CAPITOL_1_RIP_OFF wrote: »It's pretty damned obvious this forum has been hijacked by credit card employees,

blimey you cant help some people, the advise and information you have been given on this thread is sound.
It takes anything between 3 - 5 working days for payments to reach the credit card people.
When you are paid by your employer, this is normally done via bacs, this takes 3 days to clear through.
when you make a debit or credit card transaction it usually takes 3 days to clear through.
a standing order usually takes 3 days unless it is via faster payments.
a direct debit takes 3 days to complete.
I don't see what the issue is, nearly all credit card statements say allow x amount of days for the payment to clear, if you knew that you were going to be paid on x day and that was the due date for the payment you should of paid attention to how long it takes for a payment to go on to your credit card account.
You could of asked them to change your statement date by a week this would of allowed time between you getting paid and the payment reaching cap1.
I don't like crap1, i had a bad experience with them many years ago and yes like you they did not help, but to be honest I didn't help myself and paid late, it was my fault not there's yes they could of been a little more forthcoming but hey, they lend the money you spend it so it is your responsibility to pay it back on time.
you live and learn, but having a pop at people on here for the good answers they have given you is not a good idea to be honest, and if you had the same attitude with cap1 as you have on here iam not surprised they didn't want to help you.
my advise is ask them to change your statement date, setup a standing order / direct debit for the minimum payment, or use your online banking and pay them that way
