Haven't posted for a few days but haven't spend much either.
Picked up some bread on Saturday morning but NSD on Sunday. Just spent £9.45 on a few baking things and stuff for packed lunches in Mr. A and boyfriend came with me and spent £26.45(for both of us). Going to take off the £9 for beer from that but add the food totals to mine.
Made 12 cakes last night but then realised I had no icing sugar. Flatmates helped me out by eating them all warm in about 20minutes!December GC £23.43/120 :T
Nationwide Overdraft £1136, Natwest Overdraft £1800(interest free), Natwest Credit Card £155/£350
Aim to clear overdrafts by Summer 2010
Saving for Elective £0 so far!0 -
Spent another £15.26 today at Tesco but it was mostly nappies / pull-ups which were on special offer. I had checked on MySupermarket.co.uk before I went out so I knew where to go for the best deal. I wouldn't have thought of doing this before spending so much time on the OS board so thank you all!
Made dinner with the left over chicken from Thursday (frozen and then thawed). I added two bendy bits of celery, an old leek, an onion, garlic and some barley and the cooking water from some sweet potato I did earlier - cooked it for two hours and it was DELICIOUS!0 -
I did a moderate top-up shop today; came in a smidgeon over £35, and am extremely well stocked up now – couldn’t even fit all the cans on the ‘can shelf’ of the larder!
Leaves me with nearly another £35 for the final two weeks of the month, but that should just be milk & a few fresh bits. I may get some more store cupboard items, such as soy sauce & chilli sauce etc. that are running low, this month, as have the budget available & may then reduce the budget for next month.
DD cooked dinner for us tonight – sweet & sour pork out of JO’s MoF. She thought it would take ages & was very impressed at how quick it was & how tasty. Made 4 portions – ate 2 & froze 2.0 -
Just spent £72.33 at tesco online - well not really, with b1g1f and multibuys, I figure it's closer to £47 and I get £5 cashback from topcash back (if it tracks) so more like £42 but won't know until it arrives if they actually have the stuff in.
I always mark down no subs, and they never seem to have the gammon joints I want from the 3 4 10 but hayho. I kinda hate the fact that they only tell you a guide price, but what can you do? if I go in store I spend so much more...
That plus the asda spend of £50.78 should be all for this month (less bread, milk and eggs which are delivered and already paid for in advance for this month)
I'm going to add it to my budget as 92.78, but I should be getting £5 back from the asda spend too, plus should be able to update with the actual cost of the tesco shop at a later date.
Did you see Anne Robinson mention on Watchdog that Tesco will be doing away with Buy one get one free ?? instead, you buy one and get a voucher to get one free at a later date?? Dont like the idea to be honest - would rather the item was half price so you could just buy one.....
She also mentioned about how the multipack / large packs of food stuffs are not always the cheapest option. I found this when I was in asda last week. It was cheaper for me to buy two boxes of cereal that had been rollbacked to £1 per box instead of the large box..... sneaky because I would always assume that the largest quantity available would be the cheapest.0 -
Have spent €93.78 so far, definitely need to watch myself as still getting used to shopping for 2 rather than 4, freezer is full so should make it, cats and dog are pushing up costs as they never seem full!

Evening all, just got a traybake fruit cake out of oven to take to work tomorrow!Heard today I had passed the course I have just done.
If something nice (or not;)) happens at work then we have cake-blowed if I was going to pay >£10 for tatty cakes from a shop-tidied up the edges and it tastes good:D
Defrosted freezer at weekend-had duck legs stuck in the block of ice at the back-binned.(What a waste-sorry)But 'found'3 chickens, thought there was only 1-do they breed in the cold and dark?
Also found some anaemic redcurrants, turned them into rather nice jelly with the addition of 1 blackberry to gee up the colour-tip from Mum,she's even more OS(tight)than I am.
Now got 1 empty shelf, just right for a Lidls turkey-hee hee.
Sold my first item on e-bay,one way to clear out the carp. But 1 every 10 days will take an awful long time, will try to get organised and do more together.
Nearly NSD,but window cleaner came-£8-no,I don't do windows(or ironing for that matter)perhaps extravagant but am less stressed. How's that for justification.:o
Had swine flu jab last week, and still here.
Looking for NSDs this week.
Night all

Yes, I always look at the price per kg and am often surprised when you look at the 'avalible for less' on tesco that per weight they're more expensive.
I don't tend to buy mulipacks, but when I do I do look at the number of servings per pack (as per my servings, not as listed by weight) rather than pp/kg as I have a habit of using up packs rather than keeping bits.
I don't like having open packs of meat with just one or two hundred grams in it for example, so if I can't split it directly in half I tend to just use the whole thing and work the price out per portion that way.
Does that make sense at all? I'm using my OH's laptop and the screen/keyboard are tiny so sorry for any sp.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Morning everyone - hope you all had a good weekend.
I've updated my total with recent spends and still confident for the rest of the month.;)
Dinner tonight will be Sausages, mash, carrots, peas and sweetcorn. Not decided on Pud yet but as the weather is turning colder I may do a Steamed syrup sponge.:D
Have a good day everyone.;)"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

My D came home last night and is allowed seconds at school now so she had those (she is a growing girl) lol growing too fast so she just wants a sandwich and yoghurt and fruit etc, going to make a batch of chicken soup for her for the week. Well I figure the amount I'll save on food I'll put towards her clothes as she seems to grow out of them way too fast. So the hope is my budget will go right down as she eats more than me at the moment. I really don't know where she puts it shes like a bean pole lol so I am pleased with all my whoopies and less food needed I should have a good idea of spending by the end of the month. I'm off for work for 3 days so I get 3 free meals on expenses so looking good this month.Debts

Is that the dried stuff or fresh pasta? I can't imagine eating dried pasta.Dried pasta isn't as bad as it sounds - though spaghetti is the best (fussilli is a bit tricky to nibble at)
I normally end up with a raw strand when doing a spaghetti meal, if DS is in the vicinity he pinches one too, and if I manage to drop any the larger dog tries to get to it before I have chance to bin it!!! Fortunately the dog doesn't get nasty about having food removed, so if I get a hand (or foot) on it before he gets there, then he knows he's lost it and finds a corner to sulk :rotfl:Whether it's because I was a light smoker in my earlier years SIZE=1]a pack of 20 per week was heavy going for me
