I've gone back a few pages but there is too much to read so can someone please tell me which is the best breadmaker to buy? I gether its a panasonic one but which exact model is it please?
http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page.jsp?
Ooops sorry link didnt go straight to breadmakers, just type breadmaker into dixons search and it will show all they have, the Kenwood 450 seems to be on special offer too,but unfortunately its sold out.
PS,I recently tried a few breadmakers but wasnt too impressed with any of them,Panasonic was definately the best of the 3,but we all thought breadmaker bread was too "cake like",I also thought my loaves were kinda damp, but apparantly using less water may have helped...im gonna try and get a good 2ndhand,or a cheapy new one for making the dough only...or maybe il invest in a good mixer with stand???
Does anyone know of any BM's that dont make bread dense or cake like in tecture?Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)0 -
Thankyou,
Looking up those on Amazon the reviews mention problems with the paddle on both models so I feel a bit wary about getting any of them, knowing my luck I'd end up with a dud one.
What exactly does the fruit and nut dispenser do is it really necessary? can you not make fruit and nut loaves if you don't have the dispenser?
The Kenwood one is still quite expensive if its on offer its showing at £87.49 is that one supposed to be good then?Thanx

Does anyone have any experience of this one?

DeLonghi is a good make as far as I know, and the original price implies it's quite a good one (though the price reduction might suggest otherwise!) The only reviews I can find are on this link, so I'm wondering if it's made for Argos.
I'm planning to buy a Panny when I can afford it but I'malways open to new ideas!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

No you dont need the nut/fruit dispenser, its just that this one does it automaticaly, but the other one "beeps"to let you know when to put it in.helps when using the timer function.
Yeh,apparantly £87 is a good price,its £99 on Amazon,£109 at Comet and £129(the RRP i think?)at John Lewis and Lakeland.
The panasonic in dixons at £67 is the price with £30 off too,its normaly £90 odds.
From what ive read the panasonic is certainly the most popular, however reading between the lines on reviews i dont think it was "WHICH" top choice,i think that was possibly a Morphy Richards one???
ive bought the lidl mixer with dough hooks to try and help with the kneading,I just dont like the taste of bread from a breadmaker, dunno why the same mix can taste so different depending on wether its baked in a breadmaker or oven(or in my case a Remoska),if this doesnt help,I may invest in a cheapy BM(Argos have a cookworks one for £28)I would only use it for the dough function anyway:rolleyes:
Jennyjelly,is the de-longhi BM in stock in your area?,it seems to have been sold out for weeks up here, dunno much about it,i think it looks similar to the James Martin one(currently £80+)but due a price change on 3rd Nov according to the info on it,dunno what thats like either tho, must admit the Rachel Allen one made a better shaped loaf than any BM ive seen(including the panasonic ,it had a longer rather than higher bake tin with 2 paddles in it,made bigger loaves than panasonic too,and quicker, panasonic averages 5hrs.))our family hated the taste of bread from it tho,too much oil and dried milk had to be added, mine was damaged, wish id got a replacement and tried other recipes in it before giving up on it tho...it also has a convection fan,but back up to full price(was 1/2price when the de-longhi one was reduced)Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

Another vote for the Panasonic SD255 - the auto addition for fruit & nuts is great when making raisin bread overnight for breakfast - I wouldn't want to have to get up at 3am to manually add them!
Earlier question about the orange packs of yeast - I think I've seen them at Waitrose (I've only ever used the sachets of dried yeast so can't comment on how it compares)0 -
Definitely another vote for the SD255 - I think I'm somewhere (much) earlier on in this thread extolling its virtues, and well over two years later, I have no reason to revise my opinion. Mine looks as good as new too - great build quality. I did a full owner's review which you can find if you Google "SD-255".0

According to this review it was the Morphy Richards 48245 http://www.reviewcentre.com/review386460.html
But a review on this site would imply it was a Morphy Richards 48248
http://reviews.argos.co.uk/1493-en_gb/4201850/reviews.htm?pageNumber=2 (review number 25,i think?)
Another mentioned Morphy Richards, stainless steel one..it would appear then that it was Morphy Richards, but what model??
PS/ I did read a review on the panasonic wondering why Which hadnt voted the SD55/54 as a best buy,so looks like it wasnt either of these(although panasonic has been best buy in the past).Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

I make mine every day & use my Magimix (my hands are arthritic or I would do it by hand)....I've now got it down to a really simple process that I can do while making other things it takes me about 5 mins. I try lots of different flours and OH will vouch for my bread.
Can I join you in your hiding place? Magimix and Combi-oven works fine for me too. You just can't wake up to the advertised 'wonderful smell of freshly baked bread.
I confess I did get an aged MR breadmaker at a boot sale for £2.50 recently (I wouldn't have gambled much more) but the bread wasn't very good. One loaf welded itself to the pan and in trying to shake/bash/jolt it out, I squashed the pan slightly. I emailed MR who said that a pan for that model was now obsolete but they would sell me a new MR 48281 at a discounted price of £31.26.
I'm still thinking about it, but still not really convinced. I'd welcome everyone's views.0
