Stupidspender wrote:4, why on earth would you recommend using a US address when you spent 15 posts on this thread telling me that its just as cheap via priceline.co.uk? (i wonder).
The reason for giving people information on how to register for the US version of Priceline is that by setting up a profile on both the UK and US sites, you can have twice as many bids within the 24 hour period. I've registered on both with the same email address and credit card details yet if I'm 'locked out' of the UK site due to a failed bid, I can log into the US site and bid with exactly the same criteria (upping the price, obviously) with no problems.
Glad that everything is now calm and if anyone wants any pointers on how to bid for New York hotels via Priceline UK, myself and others will be only too pleased to assist.

Ive removed a number of posts which, despite my appeal, continued to carry on arguing. There seems to have been a line drawn under it now, but let me stress that this is a last warning to those concerned. If you are unable to conduct yourselves in a more considered and friendly manner and choose to continue arguing in this way, we will simply remove posting privileges.
Let me stress we dont want to do this and it IS a last resort, but i think two posts from myself is ample warning. Let's get back to saving people money.

I will be shortly posting a thread giving advice about Priceline.
However in the interim just to clear up any confusion about booking US hotels through Priceline UK.
I received this reply from their customer services:
I have highlighted the relevant text:cool:Dear Mr xxxxxxxx
Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. We understand that
you would like to know whether the Name Your Own Price link takes you to
the US run website. You would like to know whether you are booking
through US website.
Please note that the Name Your Own Price will not take you to the US
website priceline.com, but it is still priceline.co.uk. You can submit a
request for a hotel room in US using priceline.co.uk website.
As stated in our previous communication, if you live in the United
Kingdom, visit priceline Europe at http://www.priceline.co.uk/ to book
your reservations for a hotel in the United States. Click on the Name
Your Own Price link provided on the top right side of the home page.
We thank you for the opportunity to assist you and hope this information
is helpful to you.
Sincerely,
Vijay C.
Customer Service Specialist
Their email address is UKhotel1@service.priceline.co.uk should you wish to confirm this is a genuine reply;)
Hope this sorts out the confusion.0 -
Hi,
Myself and 7 friends are going to the Big Apple next October and i'm just wandering when the best time to book flights would be as I've never flown long haul before.
I'm guessing that airlines don't start selling tickets until a year in advance, would it be better to book in october or hold out until some special offers pop up? Do airlines tend to have sales in January / Febuary time (I know most people start looking at holidays around this time)
I've looked at how much tickets would cost this october as a guideline and found Virgin are the cheapest at £290 return. Any idea how much I would be looking at if we booked either in october or January?0 -

Hi pricey
I know that BA have a seat sale every year (but don't know exactly when) and that AA have them throughout the year. If you registrer for AAdvantage they will email you whenever they have any relevant offers for you (make sure that you select the notify me by email option !!)
As some of the seat sales are only on for very limited periods (mabye 4 days) , it's easy to miss out on them.
There is a seat sale on currently that finishes on July 27th for selected dates to the end of the year and they have Lon (or Man or Gla)-New York for £304 incl tax. Here are the current offers.

All depends on market forces demand for tickets, fare wars etc so no idea really.
Historically October fares can be as low as £250 but who knows what's going to happen next year?
One Tip:
Airlines tend to have seasonal fares and the lower fares to USA tend to kick in around the end\middle of October. So flexibility in travelling may save you some do$h.
Look at the fares posted in the link by MTC0 -
Cheers, some useful in formation in the last two posts. Sounds a little bit hit and miss with the sales and as there is such a big group i'd imagine we will end up booking int Jan/Feb anyway to make sure we all get on the same flight.
To be honest I thought that £290 from Virgin was a very good price so if it's about that i'll be happy.
I might give the cheapest airline a call before we book to see if they can offer a reduced price for a group booking0 -

Hi All,
My partner and I are off to New York for 10 days in September, we have eventually booked to stay at the Amsterdam Court and now we're trying to fill our days with what to see and do and would be VERY greatful for any suggestions...
Any trips etc to take?
Should we book trips before we go or are they cheaper when we get there?
Places to eat etc...?
I have never really been on a 'holiday' before so am very excited and we want to get in as much as possible, I really want to go to Niagra falls too, anyone any opinions on this?
All comments will be hugely appreciated, thanks in advance0 -
