To have a First Direct account you need to pay in 1.500 a month or they will charge you 10 per month. Are you earning that amount of money because you are only 18.The credit scoring it very tough for a First Direct account but if you have a credit card or overdraft with HSBC this may help with your application.

I think that you should wait for the credit searches to fall off and stop applying for credit because you are only 18.

That just my opinion so good luck with your application.

PS The pound sign on my keyboard is not working.

I earn around £1000 (after tax) a month, however I would be keeping an average balance of over £1500 and therefore avoid the £10 charge. I pay £13 with HSBC at the moment, so I can get txt banking, UK call centre and some other bits and bobs.

They do a credit search before sending out forms unless they find something in your application which they cannot confirm, such as an incorrect existing bank account details. The first time I applied, I got a declined letter within a few days. The second time, I got an email stating they are sending forms out.

No credit search has been done as of yet though.

I heard that NID appealed using his HSBC account as reference...

Hang on Mr, the guy is quite a responsible 18 year old and has been on this forum for some time now, please do not judge without facts.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

    :confused:Oh dear.

The OP seems to be fairly clued up and NOT in debt, albeit a bit trigger happy with hitting the 'Apply' button.

Tell me, if that's the typical 18 year old, what's the typical 27 year old like? I'm 27 and interested to see if I'm 'typical'.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

I think that you are wrong because he is a mature 18 year old that is not in debt but just wants a good bank account. If you look on the sub prime thread you will see that he has had other credit products that were managed very well and has lots of knowlege about how credit works.
