That'll be another 2 on the Christmas list then ;)
LOL, It's all in hand(literally, I'm crafting it while sat here)been sorting it for the last couple of months. Sometimes it takes me sooooo long to craft(not because it's difficult but because I can just do it at my own pace) I have to start real early, started it in May:o:eek:
I don't have anyone to craft for(not anybody :( unless my 2 need something specific) and my favourite crafting is for children.
So pleased you all liked the pressies and they were useful Rusty.

Big Hi and welcome Overzealous_Mummy lovely to see you here.

First of all - can I say a huge thank you for yet another Christmas thread - in my opinion you can never have too many people talking about the best time of the year. Its so nice to know that I am not the only person who plans for christmas from January - most of my friends think I am nuts, but they run around like idiots whilst I am sitting pretty surrounded by wonderful christmas things with lots of time to spend with my family :D

Thank you for the challenge - and am very pleased to announce I have already started this in a very similar way - I am a childminder and the holidays is my busiest time where I will be looking after 7 children every day, ages as follows: 2,3,5,6,6,7 & 9

I have lots organised and my days are split for good weather, bad weather and rest days - I get lots of ideas from the 'whats on' books sent out by the schools - I aim for 4 free days out and 1 BIG day out. I also find Kids Guide helps me with local attractions - our local museums offer lots of activities for free.

I also organise a theme each week - and make sure I have lots of printable colouring pages and related crafts - Activity Village have loads of good stuff as does the DLTK website. We are doing themes on summer time, people who help us, recycling, patterns and weaving and bug hunting.

This is so great - I can pinch more ideas from all of you, please feel free to ask anything and if I can help I will be here xx

Choccy I love your Mums challenge, I was only this morning talking about what I'm going to do with my LO through the holidays! I'll be back in the morning to start my list!

Just wondering is there anyway we could have the challenge put on the first page for easy reference? Save me/us trawling through the pages to find the challenge?
    :xmassmile Looking forward to December:xmassmile

Ok I am pretty good at planning the summer hols as I have to organise childcare for all the days I work and I organise a group of mums with kids for meet ups too. I have a big chart with all the days on and whether I am working or not and any 'dates' already put in. I also have all the holidays of friends and family marked on there so I know who is about on which days in order to plan group or individual meet ups. It worked pretty well last year tho we did have a few wet meet ups in the various parks thanks to the Bristish weather.

I would be really interested to know if anyone can think of free/very low cost activities for larger groups of mums and kids for the wet days. We found this v hard last year as the age difference is quite big between the kids so really hard to find indoor activities for everyone on a large group especially if you are on a budget.

I also agree with Snickers my 2 definitely need quiet days planned for at home as when I work the kids are out from just after 8.30 am until after 6 pm so they have long days in play schemes. They really like to have 'jammy' days as a treat sometimes!!

i do think I will try really hard to do a scrapbook of our summer as that is a superb idea Choccy!! Might actually get me started finally!
  • Well this is the:xmassmile none mums' summer holiday challenge :xmassmile
or as i fondly call it ,' i'm bored' challenge

Earlier today i asked you to get some paper and a pen.
Now after reading the challenge you can decide which format would work better for you. ( More about that later )

Take 2 sheets of paper. or a notebook
    At the top write
    For me

Write numbers down to 15 on the sheet

The idea behind this challenge is, We often find ourselves wanting to do something but not sure what.Or having an hour to ourselves and spending 50 minutes thinking what to do :rotfl:
The challenge is to make sure you are organised. So you all have a less stressfull time thinking about it

My mini challenge will start this evening and finish on Sunday. If you would like to add any ideas to the list then you can PM me and i will add them onto the lists. Then we can all share in ideas I have put a few suggestions on here to start everyone off.

    1. Have a soak in a bubble bath

    2. Read a chapter of a book you had started but neglected

    3. Try something new ( i mean a fruit or vegetable)

    4. Check through your diary for up and coming important dates, make sure you have made or bought all cards for the month ahead.

    5. Try a craft or look into starting a new hobby

    6. Write a 'real' letter

    7. Update your Christmas planner

    8. Write a new receipe in your Christmas planner

You could do a lucky dip or pick whichever suits your mood. The choice is yours :D

furrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:

    Hi Mum,
Just realised that this thread isn't seperate to mel's thread (Thanks fluffy)
the I'm bored mini challenge doesn't really work for me- am nannying but family I work for are moving to Stafford so only a few more days of work :(

Tomorrow is going to be my crafty day- do bits and pieces here and there but every now and then get together with a couple of crafty friends and craft together- gets a bit competitive and is a good motivator!! (And we have cupcakes) so shall hopefully have lots of progress to report tomorrow evening

Thank you very much for the non mums challenge choccy.
I couldn't come back straight away I had to watch Torchwood first. How exciting is it.
I'm going to have a bubble bath in a sec and I've been knitting tonight.
I'm going to hit a brick wall in a minute though, this Christmas Planner, is it a folder, type thing from organized christmas? Not quite sure what I'm meant to be updating.
