Well he came round to talk to me about it today, but went into lots of detail about his marriage troubles. His W took the whole early retirement bit hard apparently, they don't talk properly, she's unhappy but he doesn't know what she wants .... culminating in telling me that she now sleeps in the spare room 5.gif.

Now we were never more than just, well acquaintances I thought, and I was very uncomfortable with the conversation. I moved it on to the business of the Gas bills etc.

As he left, he said how nice it was to see me after such a long time, and he will drop in to see what I've decided in a few days, for more of my delicious coffee...

Now this guy is in his late 60s, I suspect feeling a bit lonely, and I don't know how to respond....

Is this a sales technique they are taught !!! or should I worry for my virtue .. (which is not as my posting name suggests) .

    Hi Easy

Having read the posts from my beloved friends Q and C, I would like to offer a little balance to the discussion. It would have been more constructive for them to have just told you to read the other thread, rather than repeat their personal opinions.

As for you, don't feel you have to say yes because of your friends position. Just explain to him that, in your circumstances, it is not economical for you to move over to UW just for gas and electricity at the moment. As you have found yourself, UW are not the cheapest provider for gas and electricity alone and, because you are not in a position to transfer your other services, you would be paying a considerable premium to move across. As Q mentioned, joining up for a couple of months would salve your conscience in the short term, but isn't a good solution for either of you. (Even though you are a soft-hearted gal...:A )

I appreciate that you feel in a difficult position, but the figures speak for themselves. Just let him know and wish him well in his new venture.

    All the best

    Mike

PS For the record, I am a customer and distributor for UW.

Although there is nothing wrong in posting "personal opinions", in fact the posts you wish had not been made (presumably because the uw's methods are exposed) were mainly factual, not just opinion, and of course gave links to actual uw training videos to back them up.

    Mike,
    Read Post #3.

I didn't come back in until the pro UW lobby started to post their usual misinformation.

I wouldn't touch UW as a supplier with a very long bargepole and would advise everyone else to avoid them also.

Their management structure would appear to many fair-minded people to be surprisingly like a pyramid operation. I understand UW deny this and obviously accept their statement.

    Cheers!

You've written this so many times now I'm surprised you haven't got it saved as a file somewhere to just copy and paste, thereby negating the chance of getting it wrong like you have here. Embarrassing... :rotfl:

Cheers Carmine! Sadly these forums show people keep coming along and thinking UW is a good idea: In my opinion it isn't! That message is worth repeating for the benefit of these posters..

Best wishes to all, including those who don't agree with me!

    Cheers!

An interesting debate going on here! I had a very similar experience to a lot of people where someone i know was trying to get me to sign up. Now this was a very good friend of mine who i trust 100% and after going throught he figures he could save me a little bit of money per month but nothing that was going to change my life. I signed up there and then but mainly as a favour to him but at the same time it wasnt doing me any harm.

However, i tend to agree with the opinion that UW isnt all its cracked up to be. Its a good idea on paper and when my mate talks about it it sounds good, but in actual fact its a lot of work before you start making money. It felt a little like he'd been brain washed by the whole idea too!

Things are what you make of them. Put a lot in, get a lot out. I put a little in and get a little out. It's my fault and I accept that. You need momentum to keep the thing rolling and that obvioulsy takes more enrgy at the start. Some people do brainwash themselves into believeing that MLM is a quick path to riches. Wrong!

A very fair and balanced comment, thank you NigeWick. Out of interest are you still signing up people you know or are you at the stage where you are cold calling for sales?
