Please can you post the recipe for marmite bread,,,, PLEASE! :):)

Hiya, I have just taken mine out of my MRFB and it looks amazing, and the house smells delicious - like Marmite on toast. We are going to try ours as the bread for old english sausage and cheese sandwiches tonight (not exactly a proper meal but I really wanted to try out the bread :D), but if there is any left tomorrow I think it will be good for cheese sandwiches.

Here is the recipe - let me know how you get on:

    Marmite loaf:
    3 tsp Marmite
    1 tbsp hot water
    275ml cold water less 1tbsp
    2 tbsp oil
450g soft grain strong white bread flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 1/2 tsp caster sugar
1/2 tsp instant or fast-acting dried yeast

Mix the marmite in the hot water.

Add to breadmaker with the cold water.

Add oil and half the flour

Add salt and sugar, then rest of flour, then yeast on top.

Turn bread maker on to basic white.

Wait ... patiently of course (!!) before leaving it to cool then cutting.

Would it be possible to post these recipes into a sticky thread that collates all the bread making recipes?

Sadly, no :o I can change the title, though, and invite more favourite bread recipes  How about that ;)

You could also take a look at The Complete Bread Making Collection :D

It's done ;) One of my very favourite OS threads is here - Adventures with bread dough.

Please remember not to post recipes directly from books - this contravenes copyright. If you've made your own alterations to recipes, that's OK :D

I MUST tell you all (all that like Marmite, that is), that the Marmite loaf was the best!! I will definitely be making it again :D
  • This thread is great - i've just tried the marmite loaf and it's all gone we ate some for breakfast and the rest went into luch boxes. I too have just tried to get the book at the library but there's a waiting list.

I would really like to try bagels has anyone got a recipe and made them with success.
    Kind Regards

I just made a wholemeal loaf and the paddle is still in the bread and the bulk of the loaf seems ok but the top seems to amlost deflate to the touch so thinking maybe just air is this normal

If the loaf rises then collapses, it means there was too much yeast in it.
