Barclays Tax Haven ISA: Have you opened one?

If you've only had £1 in the account, what else would they base the interest on?
I see what you are saying, but the account has only been open for 24 hours. I have been deprived of the opportunity to deposit in an isa for seven weeks. So I feel entitled to ask them to backdate the interest on the amount of my second deposit.0 -
Being an existing Barlcays customers I have had no problem opening the accounts. I opened it on Sunday 8th June and was quite shocked to see it open when I logged onto on-line banking on Wednesday 11th.
However as many users have previously said i find it quite silly that money cannot be transferred into the account on-line - even if you are a Barclays customer. I rang the savings department to confirm this, where I was told it is only viewable on-line and no transactions can be made. However they did let me set up a standing order into and transfer money over the phone.
I feel quite sorry and disgusted that new customers have to go through so much hassle considering all I had to do was fill in a on-line form asking me to confirm details and to transfer money, and the account opened in a couple of days.0 -
An update! my money has still not reached my ISA. Still in my basic account. they are polite enough in store but no help at all!!cedrickerry wrote: »Been following with interest!
I went into Branch and deposited £500 to open account, had the letter confirming it was open dated 15th May. Went into bank to pay in more on 17th May . . . .. . ..hah hah . . .. . . . was told I can't pay directly into it and had to pay into my basic Barclays account and transfer . ... . . . so I did . . . . and it is still there over 2 weeks later . . . . . not left on way to Isa, or reached ISA! Now complaining about lost interest on this.
Another thing we wanted an ISA where we could pay in at branch and see it (rather than an anonymous online bank account) - was sold this one in Barclays on that premise - the man told us we could have a passbook or similar. Since found out we cant - and cant even pay money into it . . . . disaster. Seriously thinking about closing (just within the 14 days of receiving terms and conditions letter)2009 total raised £2373.60:jthe new garden beat me in 2010 just £1306.66:o2011 - 365 £ a day.
Life Changing October 2011 - DF & £10000 saved - twins came - no plans
2013 - twins now 14 mths old - lets get sorted!

Another week´s gone by and still no ISA for 08/09.
I really don´t get it why Barclays are too stupid to open an ISA account within almost 3 months after filing the application. I´ve been an existing Barclays customer (using onliine banking as well) when I applied for both an 07/08 and an 08/09 ISA in the second half of March 2008. My 07/08 ISA was opened within 4 weeks (mid April). But why the 08/09 hasn´t been opened until today is beyond me. This is just a disgrace and poor, poor customer service by Barclays.
Honestly, with that experience, I will walk away from Barclays at the earliest time possible and transfer my current and savings accounts that I currently have with them to another bank.
I am sooooooooooooo disappointed!

What a stupid system they have. I have just phoned up again and was told that because a complaint from me was on the system, the account would not be opened up until the complaint was dealt with. And I "should" hear from them by June 25th!!
And why did I complain? Because the account hadn't been open after 7 weeks!!
This could go round in circles until next April :mad:0 -
2 months after going into branch and opening three accounts today I got my rejection letter stating that the quoted bank details (to fund the ISA) are incorrect.
The lady who opened all my accounts gave me incorrect sort code details.:mad:0 -
Well that's it. I've had enough, I applied in branch on April 26th, received the "we are expereincing delays and account opening may take up to 4 weeks" letter on 29th April. So I waited. After 4 weeks I phoned and was told "any day now". After another week I phoned and was told "I've reprinted your application and handed it to the account opening team. Should be open within 5 working days". After another week (12th June by now) I phoned and was told "It's in the system, can't give a specific date but it is being delt with" then today, the straw that has broken the donkey back... I have just received a letter asking me to go into branch with photo ID so they can confirm my address for the last three years and I have 14 days to do this. SORRY??? WHAT??? What has photo ID got to do with my address for the last three years??? And is that a deadline I am being given??? That's a bit flipping rich coming from you who've had my application for 7 WEEKS!!! THE CHEEK! In truth, it's a bit obvious thatthis is a standard stalling tactic that hey use to by them a bit more time and make it look like they are doing someting. Cobblers! So I've called them up and told them I won't be going into the branch and they can cancel my application. I've got to the point I don't give a stuff about the interest, I wouldn't commit myself to a company who deals out that sort of customer service for all the tea in china much less a few quid.BARCLAYS - I WILL NOT BE TOUCHING YOU WITH A BARGE POLE EVER AGAIN. GOODBYE!Everything that happens, happens for a reason.0

Hi,
Is it possible to transfer money from another bank to Barclays ISA? Either through BACS or faster payment?

If this works, you'll only be able to do it from a non-Barclays account: if you try to use the "Pay someone" facility on Barclays Online (it doesn't list the account in the "Transfer to account" screen) it will just give you an error stating you cannot pay yourself.0 -
