BTW forgot to mention, sold 3 books today totally £65!!!!!! Nothing for must be at least 2 weeks then all of a sudden!

I knew those students would need these books! mwahahahaha!.... :o

    Yeah :D I knew you'd pick up ;)
Talking of students, I wandered into unknown territory ... quantum physics  Some of the prices were unreal lol. Wished I'd had some though ;)

Ad I'm learning what sells and what doesn't. Popular stuff's a real no-go as far as my little library's concerned nads, but local stuff's going for ridiculous prices. Maybe they sell abroad?

And I sold another 2 today! (Cheap but they were part of the decluttering process :D)

The fees look a bit frightening though, I just listed an art book and had to keep upping the price to cover the fees and have enough left for the postage, I think they ended up being in excess of £4. I know you don't have to pay them if the book doesn't sell, but they are still a bit hefty.

I like the fact that it is easy to see what others are selling and for how much, it saves listing things that don't stand much chance of selling.

I'm still listing now, but I'm getting tired ....

    Hiya Soo :)

It's probably too late to mention it now, but I'd already listed all my bestsellers (1p lol), on Green Metropolis, but it meant I had a comprehensive list of books that included the ISBN's and postage (but that's not totally accurate). I found it so easy just to copy and paste from GM to Amazon ...

I've got a feeling I'm teaching an old dog new tricks though ;)

I'll go for another tip then...when I have listed a book I wrap it closely in clingfilm, this keeps it from getting scuffed up while in storage (they are all in boxes and the one I want is always at the bottom) and they look really good when they go in the bubble bags and I assume they look great when they get opened up too...

That's a great idea apprentice tycoon :) I was getting confused with what was where, so I opted for sandwich bags (not for posting - just for storing lol), but with cling film I might even be able to put a post-it note on with the price and where it's listed. Plus I imagine that it stops those awful dust jackets from getting a crease at the worst time possible ..... when you're about to sell ...

Not sure where I am though .... I didn't realise how many books I had until this started ;) I'll be in the loft soon :D

Angela - go into your seller account. Under Get Paid, select the first option (view your amazon payments....), then select the top option (view recent payments...) and sign in. Sometimes it goes straight into 'search transactions' and sometimes it goes into 'account summary' - you want the 'search transactions' option so click on that if necessary. Then under option 2 narrow search by pending payment (bottom bullet), click on search and that should do it.

    Hope that makes sense!

The fees are high, but are they higher than ebay + paypal ? (Not sure, never worked it out :D) Plus, no chargebacks, not too much wrangling over feedback and best of all, all the pics are done for you ;)

P.S Forgot to mention, no waiting for your paypal acc to reach £50 or worrying that scammers have emptied it whilst your backs turned :j :j Straight to my saving account and building up nicely for my trip ;)

I sold my first book!, Still not happy about fees though, I got £2.85 and Amazon kept £1.65. That is dearer than Ebay, (20p to list, FVFs 8p and paypal 28p =56p)

Anyhow, I've packaged it and am just about to go to the Post office with it and maybe browse a charity shop or two on the way back...

Oh, and I checked some of my OHs books, he has one where the only other copy is up at £60, I wonder if he will notice if it disappears?

And you clicked on the bottom bullet to narrow your search to show pending payments only? If you do that and there aren't any it comes up to say 0 results - you shouldn't see any completed payments.

  • Well done Soo! - if you think that you can sell 15+ items a month it's worth getting the Pro-merchant subscription - this means that the flat 86 pence that they charge you as comission fees is waived.
The subscription fees are normally £28.75 per month but if you sign up before the end of november you get it at half price for 3 months so if you sell more than 15 items (cds or books or whatever) then you are in pocket, you can cancel at any time

The thing is about the fees, ebay may have been cheaper in this case but you can't be certain that it would have sold first time around and you saved yourself a bit of bother taking a photo. The extra 86 pence would have swung it more in amazons favour rather than ebays
