Opening a new ISA
I already have an instant access ISA and have paid in my maximum amount for this year so can no longer make any deposits. However, I wanted to move my ISA to a provider with a better rate so I opened a new instand access isa online. It said the minimum deposit was £100 so to start with I decided to deposit £100 into the…

The End Of Britain?
This is the title of a sales pitch for Moneyweek Magazine. But it makes interesting reading. It predicts financial armageddon, they says its magazine tells you how to avoid it. One of the interesting things (quote) We are not simply talking about shares falling or house prices dropping, which is devastating enough. We are…

Do they Credit Check for an ISA/Savings Account?
Quick (and possibly daft) question. If you go to set up an ISA or other Savings Account, do they do a credit check? If so, could a bad Credit Rating prevent you from setting up said ISA/Savings Account, or limit access to the higher interest ones?

LTSB Step Bond, who would find this a good option?
Hello, while awaiting advice from a trusted IFA, various people, including staff at my bank, are flagging up various savings and investment opportunities. This week I have been given information about a 3 year step bond from Lloyds TSB for personal customers from Dec 10 last year. I've not given it much thought but as soon…

Where to put £250,000?
Hey guys, Bit of background: My grandad had a stroke a couple of months ago and will be moving into a nursing home in the next few weeks. So this will leave his house empty. What are peolpe's opinion on selling now or keeping hold of the house and renting it out until the market improves? If we were to sell now what would…

More money/investing Issues
Hello my mother has £49,000 in a 75 day saver (Nationwide) and just been told the interest rate is going down to 1% gross. Obviously keen on moving this money but considering investing it in funds etc. rather than cash seeing as she doesn't need it for 5/10 years. Would a FTSE tracker be any good? Obviously just looking…

What do you guys do to maximise your investments?
Hi I recently managed to secure a decent job with a decent salary (I think :p ) and I can afford to save up to £15,000 a year. I was wondering how you guys go about saving and investing in order to get the best return. For example I know that the ISA allowance for 2013/14 will be raised to £11,520. I can fill that quota…

Calling those with a "high" level of savings/investments! (£50,000+)
Obviously this £50,000 figure is not that high yet it is in my own humble opinion! Just curious as to all the different situations surrounding how you got there? How long it took you to get a decent amount saved/at what age? Paid down a chunk of my debts today by taking £2,000 out of salary and £3,000 out of my emergency…

China Special Situation Fund - Fidelity UK
Any Fidelity UK China Special Situation Fund investors? OK, so I made a huge mistake but now... at least rising to 90. Was far too stressful over the past year since I had no idea that this was such a volatile market. Should I just sell now while my losses have not been too great - or wait for a bit now that they are…

Understanding TER fees
Hi, I have a S&S ISA with Hargreaves Lansdown One question I thought I knew the answer to but then started second guessing is: When is the TER on each fund paid? H&L list my current gain/loss %, are the fees already accounted for in the fund and I don't get a separate bill at some point? Is this % Net or Gross? (I have 2…

Are all S&S providers now RDR compliant?
I am thinking of transferring my S&S ISA to another provider with lower charges, but was wondering whether we should expect any more fee changes in the coming year or have they all now finished them.

Letter says that i'll need this along with my DOB & my Online User ID to log in. I've no idea what my online user ID is. Don't ever remember…

Warning: NatWest E-Saver (from October 2012)
Hello folks Just a quick word for those that took out the NatWest E-saver in October 2012 (it was an MSE best buy but was quickly over subscribed and removed) - CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT INTEREST RATE! I just checked my online bank account and saw the interest I received was low. I popped into the local branch of NatWest and…
