Cheesy Nachos?

It's my little girls 8th birthday next week and she is having 3 friends for bowling then tea at our house. Their parents are coming for tea also but i want to do 'bits and bobs' for the parents ie pizza etc.
Anyway, this is probably a thick question, but how do you do cheesy nachos (like the ones you get at pizza hut as a starter), they have a tomato sauce thing then melted cheese on them. Also, do you use doritos?

I think you can use doritos or the cheaper supermarket alternative. You need to make or buy some salsa, which comes in jars - or search Salsa on the web - it should have tomatoes and chili. Only use a bit of salsa and keep it to the middle. Grate lots of cheese on it and grill till the cheese melts - cheesy nachos.
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

Or just do nachos and dip - then you can have sour cream, BBQ sauce, Salsa mayo etc and they can pick their own.
Pizza Huts have chopped chillis on the top too! :eek: :rotfl:0 -
This is a favourite snack - doritos, salsa, grated cheese - in microwave 4 2 mins then spoon sour cream over, also put chilli's on my portion.0

I do these with Mr T's Value Tortilla chips, grated cheese and Mr Ts salsa.
I just put a plateful in the microwave with cheese sprinkled on - then pop in microwave for approx 1 and a half minutes on high - then add toppings of salsa, shredded iceburg lettuce, chopped toms and I prefer creme fraiche to sour creme as its thicker so not as messy.

As the resident American I would like to share how I do my nachos:
Put dorito type nachos in a large platter, (the idea is to get a lot of surface area of each dorito showing as opposed to a large pile on top of each other), pour over a small tin of warmed up Discovery Spicy Refried Beans over the nachos, then a lot of grated cheese and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes. Then add dollops of sour cream and guacamole (mushed up ripe avocado) and a few sliced jalapenos! (I'm not a big fan of salsa mixed with refried beans). You can also add browned mince mixed with the refried beans on this dish. Very filling, and if you're not 8 years old, it goes very well with lager.0 -

I layer mine. To serve 4-6 people, I use two large bags of Tesco own nachos (we are greedy
).
I use a jar of salsa, chopped spring onions, jar of sliced green chillis (if liked), and lots of grated cheese (cheddar or monterey jack for string). Add a layer of nachos, and dot salsa over the top with a teaspoon. Add some spring onions, chillis and cheese on top, then add another layer and continue, finishing with the cheese. Bung in a hot oven for 10-15 minutes until bubbling on top.
I serve with guacamole and sour cream. Its one of our favourites as a starter with Fajitas for mains.Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
