Don't know how to make it, but isn't it this stuff which comes in a bottle:

I'd be amazed if you could make it cheaper, given that you only need a small amount for each serving of nachos and can then stick the opened bottle in the fridge until the urge strikes again, but you are stuck buying a whole pack of processed cheese to make it yourself, which then needs using up.
  • You might also find some success if you can find a place to buy Velveeta. It is what most Americans use for replicating a recipe like this. It is so highly processed that it doesn't need to be refrigerated until open. It will also keep for months if you re-wrap in clingfilm after that. My parents used to send me a block for a specific recipe, although I got so used to not having it that I don't like it now:) Try google--you can get it in the uk although it tends to be more expensive than the US. Probably still cheaper than one batch of cinema nachos!
  • Use the first recipe that Kittycat suggested, we've been making that for years, the processed cheese gives it that authentic out of a jar taste!

I love home made chili nachos, I layer mines too. I use chili con carne. A layer of nachos, then chile con carne, the cheese, then again on top of that, its amazing once u get it out of the oven and its all melted in, mmmmm!!! I am being good tho, so not had it in a while. Top it with sour cream, yum!
