The DFW Birthday and Christmas Planning Club - 2019 21st Jan 19 at 2:51 PM
    Hey all,

So I wanted to start this thread as I am terrible at keeping a track of spending on Birthdays and Christmas gifts throughout the year.

I also need to plan better so that I am reducing spends, I tend to go overboard with the gifts because I buy throughout the year then forget what I have bought so just keep buying!

The aim for this thread for me personally is to keep a track of the spending for all Birthday and Christmas gifts for 2019.

I am going to make a list of all that I need to buy for then mark them off when they are complete with details of what I have purchased, the cost and any savings I have made.

Anyone else want to join me?

    Thanks Dxxx

He's 7 now so quite hard to buy for. I just gave him cash in a card as that is the easiest option, no opportunity to save on this one!

Yes please! I've got loads to buy for, some of my friends have 4 kids!! I do have a list at home which I'll update with later.

We have 3 family birthday's in January, but we made a rule a few years ago that only niece's and nephew's under 18 get a present from aunt's and uncles, so I've knocked one niece off my list. Got a nephew in April that will be off the list this year, and a nephew in October that will be off the list this year.

The other two this month, one is mine (tomorrow!!) and my brother at the end of this month. I've text him and we aren't getting each other this year, so another off my list!

I'll need to start buying gifts for the kids though, I've got plenty throughout the year!

Are we still doing surveys etc to pay for presents??

    Morning Dolly and everyone :-)

Sorry, I didn't really do anything over the weekend, but I did mean to get my birthday list together I'll sort it today/tomorrow, honest!

With regards to your 7yr old, I bought my 7yr old niece a present last year that she LOVED, it was like a Dig Out Gemstones thing? Managed to get it off Amazon for like 3.00, and she played with it for HOURS til she got all the 'gems' out.
Doesn't help you now his birthday has passed, but it might help for another kid lol x

I've just checked, it was the 'Amazon Choice' one that's currently 6.99 that I bought. But as I said, I paid like 3 or less at the time for it.

Haha i wish it was sorcery!

I did actually pay for the gifts, but they were actually for the kids' birthdays last year but by the time we saw them it was Christmas time. I bought Christmas gifts too and intended on giving them the birthday gifts too but the parents hadn't brought birthday gifts for my two (who'd had birthdays in the mean time too) so to save any embarrassment to the parents i just kept them aside.

They are having a birthday party this year (likely joint as there's only a week between their birthdays) and we'll be going to that for sure, so just keeping the presents by. Didn't think there was any use in claiming i'd spent the money on the gifts in this budget, given i bought them early 2018!

So, for the purposes of this, they're FREE!

    Morning all!

So I spent last night hunting for my wage slips (will phone the student loan people today and tell them I've paid off my loan yaaaay!!).

Managed to find two birthday cards that I can use this year, a 'lego' set that I'd won last year and stashed, plus another roll of wrapping paper and a pack of tissue paper! And two unopened gift sets that will most definately be getting regifted this year!

Oh, and a 20 Pizza express voucher that someone bought us for christmas, it was a thoughtful gift but..... I'm not really a pizza express fan so.... I'll regift that as well

    Go you!

I bought a new handbag and it was stuffed full of grey tissue paper, I was just about to bin it then I thought this is ideal to put in with gifts in gift bags.

Dolly that's a good idea to keep the tissue paper!!

I bought one of those wrapping paper storage things from Ikea, so all my christmas and birthday paper is in that, along with anything else I find for wrapping. Got 2 gift bags for my birthday last week, so I've put them in the storage box as well to reuse

Found a roll of wrapping paper in my boot there at lunch time, will take that into the house tonight and stash it away with the rest, mon the Marie Kondo
