I can do this! 5th Sep 16 at 10:18 AM
    Hi all,

Some of you may remember me from years ago, I was infact a BG on DFW and a number of other boards for a very very long time

Life got hectic and busy and I ended up stepping down because in part I had lost my MSE motivation a little after probably overdosing on it... Work got manic, my daughter was a toddler and needed a lot of time, we were trying to move house and frankly life got in the way of things!

SO I am back with a vengeance after clicking on a forum post that was shared on the FB page and I've spent too many hours the last few days falling in love with MSE all over again!

This thread will be my personal diary on the way to finally getting DF - it's within reach and I will be honest and say I live a pretty comfortable life right now. There are a LOT of things I could cut back on but I choose not to... these are my personal choices and some (I have an occasional cleaner) are for my sanity due to the long hours I work.
I have re-joined flylady to minimize my cleaner needs though, but it's something that when I pull 10-12 hour days then my free time will be prioritized for my daughter and not for washing the kitchen cabinets down

So please bear in mind that I know I could be far more brutal in my quest - there is no need to berate me for some of my frivolous luxuries, they are very conscious choices at this stage

That said - I shall go and create my full income and outgoings and post it here later this morning - i may be a while!!

Still a few bits to go on there but this is a start... I typically put away 500 in savings a month and still have treats for myself (which will need to be stopped for a bit!)

We have a holiday booked for end of October (2 weeks in Florida) - I'm keeping my 2k aside for this, I don't expect to spend more than 500 but I want to know it's there if I need it!

Well done on getting back on the band wagon

Just a note on the car; I bought the servicing plan too and had to fork out for new brake discs and pads at the service last month. I also opted to have the air con regassed as I spend a lot of time in the car. These and a couple of very minor things ended up costing me 460 so watch out for them.

First three items up for sale - one on ebay, two on facebook.

    It's a start!

15 refund also arrived unexpectedly in the post today so I'm taking that as a sign! Not sure what of, but hey

Found some Duplo sets I bought 2 years ago as presents for a friends kids and then haven't seen them since... Oh well... they can get sold then!

Was going to photograph them this morning but totally forgot to - that will be on this evenings list! More pennies to go towards the 300 for Sept challenge. Need to try and get some time to do some crafting and stick bits up on Etsy... They're a little Christmas focused so now is definitely the time to get cracking!

I'm also doing a day teaching towards the end of the month so I will have 60 to put in the pot from that...

FlyLadying got off to a good start; kitchen is clean and mainly tidy (need to do the floor really... bah humbug!)
Today is Master Bedroom and DD can do her own tidying this evening after school. Contrary to her belief it will NOT kill her...

Yeah DD totally did NO tidying, however bedroom is hoovered and dusted, my side is decluttered.
Husbeast actually hoovered and washed kitchen floor - better than nothing!

Tomorrow is a LONG drive to south wales for work - the good news is that I get milage for this so once I have taken out the petrol cost I would say that's 50 at least... I shall put that towards my 300 goal this month but I'm not counting it till it's paid

Found half a dozen of DDs shoes that I will list on the local FB sales page so that will help too.

    Progress!

I spent four hours in my 12yo DD's bedroom on Sunday while she was away. Been telling her for weeks to tidy to no avail. Brought 14 empty juice/water bottles down. Found clothes scrunched up into balls that she hasn't worn for months - she has a laundry basket that gets emptied a couple of times a week but these never made it to it. Sent her up for an hour once she got back to do a bit more. When she came downstairs I asked her if she had got much done - according to her that was it finished. Don't think so sweetie. I hadn't even started under her bed. Sure enough all she had done was pick up the small bits of paper that I hadn't got to yet because I was dealing with the big stuff. At least she can now walk to her wardrobe but under and behind her bed are still a tip and behind her TV stand too.

One day my house will be a haven of peace and tranquility.

Phew a manic nuts week at work - travelling a lot and working even more - means housework has fallen behind again as apparently husbeast is incapable of doing any of that when he's "working from home"... he has time to play on his xbox, but not tidy up his plates from breakfast? WTF???
He takes mugs to the sink, but the dishwasher is the same distance and they just end up sat in the damn sink! I despair!
Also he had a few things to arrange last 2 weeks - apparently he was too busy and didn't get round to it... one was calling the dentist for an appointment for DD, it's a 2 minute call for crying out loud! But he has time to take half a day off today to do stuff he wants? Bet when I get home he still won't have done the 2 things I asked. Grand.

Sorry having a wee bit of a vent today because it's really really annoying me. I've been in pain for the last 2 days with a frozen shoulder (he's been very sympathetic as he's suffered before himself) so getting home from work at 8 and having a kind friend who's a massage therapist work on me for hour and a half before collapsing into bed and not sleeping well. But he can't pick up the phone twice to make these appointments?

I will grant him he's done DDs lunches and teas for at the childminder. However I manage to do them normally and everything on top so it DOES bug me... a lot!

Positives - sold a figurine on ebay that did ok - need to package and post that this weekend but it's going towards my 300 target Found an old cheque for 30 so I'm going to try and cash it hehehe as well as my 15 refund for overpaying my windscreen excess. It's getting there!

My challenge THIS weekend is to declutter at least 25 items! Be it bin or sell or recycle I don't care but 25 things are leaving my house! At the rate it's going I might count the husbeast as one of them!!!!!

That sounds like a good challenge Mrs Tinks - I might join you!

On the chores front; what I hate is when I start something because it's been left for hours/days etc but then OH comes and starts helping as if he was going to do it eventually. My sister used to do the same thing with the washing up and it really p*sses me off lol.

I'm lucky that OH is actually very good and he cooks most days, it's just that I usually have to instigate the cleaning. Have explained that I don't like asking because I feel like I'm nagging but he'd prefer to be asked/prompted.

Soooo... 25 items did indeed NOT leave my house this weekend - oooops!

However Ebay item posted off, some bargain goodies bought for Halloween or Christmas - not sure we're here for Halloween (might be in Florida!) in which case they will be saved till the holidays LOL

This month has more month than money (some new expenses cropped up like a spa day and hair do... meh! Frankly I needed both - it's been a bit of a crappy time and I needed a break to think and just switch off, and I also needed my hair doing which happens every 3-4 months - however I shall add that to my budget. Then my life insurance and unemployment insurance both got approved and they have taken the first payment. Spiffing!) so I really need to be good for the rest of the month - I may need to dip into the money I transferred to savings at the start, but I will get most of it back in my expenses for the month! Just looked at it and it's for several hundred quid yikes! 225 to be precise... well no wonder my calculations were a smidgen off LMAO! BTW non of these trips had more than a few days warning LOL

Must go do that form now whilst I remember!

Edited SOA above with latest MBNA statement - this should go down again when October payment goes out - I moved the repayment days so that should be in the next week.

    Progress!

Which debt are you focusing on? Are the unsecured debts really at 0%? Do you still use the credit cards? Do you have a target DF date?

Sorry about all the questions but difficult to comment on the soa as obviously still incomplete. I like the selling and decluttering though.

    Good luck anyway.

To be fair this is more a diary for me - which is why it's not on the main DFW board But yes all the debts are really genuinely 0% Apr, my priority is the Debenhams, because it's gratifying to get rid of debts lol then MBNA and last the picture. The picture is actually an investment piece which we decided to get, and it's 0% until it's paid off. It's likely to double in value over 5 years, more if the signature holder passes away as demand will soar... (Bit of a cult following lol)

Ultimately it's still worth more now (just) than we paid, and selling my guns, the bike and another limited print I own and I'd be debt free. If I was out of work that would be my plan
