My Tiscali email will not open on my Macbook.
I go to settings, open mail and am asked to enter my password, although there is window behind it showing the password (in dots).
I enter the correct password, but it is not recognised.
Then, half an hour later, emails come whizzing in.
Any help will be gratefully received.

Are you using Mail e-mail client?
Or Tiscali e-mail via Safari or browser.
"I go to settings, open mail and am asked to enter my password," -I don't understand why you have to go to settings- which settings?Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Tiscali via Safari.
I did bite the bullet and used Apple support. It could nearly an hour, but we got it sorted. I deleted the account and reloaded it, had to try that twice, but it evenuslly worked.
Is via safari problematic? Strange that it was fine on iPad.
Edit, I meant system preferences, which seemed to open anyway, asking me to use password.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Is there any reason why your not using you Tiscali e-mail via MAIL?
Just wondered as it's ver simple to add multiple e-mail accounts.
e.g. I have iCloud and gmail accounts via MAIL.
Pleased you got your prob resolved;)Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Oh, Dandy, I'm going mad with it. Yes, it was 'mail'.
I went through the performance of system preferences etc. On the advice of the support guy, I deleted tiscali account, then reloaded it, after switching router off and on.
Cross fingers, it's okay now.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

If it's any consolation I'd put any problems down to the Mail app on OS X.
Touchwood it's not happened for sometime but my Virgin Media account used to be a PITA when GMail provided the service; since they've switched systems it has settled down now. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Thanks for that, too, 20 a day.
I could get the mail by going via the TT site.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

In my experience with Pipex, email fetched by POP or IMAP (Pipex share the same email servers as Tiscali), is that it tends to temporary lockout if there are too many connections in a short space of time. This is probably what you've experienced. If I log into webmail, I don't have these problems.0

Well, my hour's interaction with a nice guy in Cork yesterday, the damn Tiscali email is not loading again today.
It's fine on iPad and on web mail, though.

Are you running the latest build of OS X El Capitan? (10.11.4)
I've not used Tiscali email in some years (must be the best part of a decade) but when you log into the account online are there any settings for POP3, IMAP etc?
Edit: might be worth having a look through here: https://help2.talktalk.co.uk/email-settings-imap-pop3 and seeing what Mail for OS X has set up.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Phew! 1 hour, 51 minutes with a saint of a bloke from Apple support. We've tried everything. He even gave me his own details to try things.
I now need to contact TT! That'll be a nightmare!
I will look at your link, 20 a day. And I realise I'm on 10.10.5, so will update. I'm sure I only update about three weeks ago, which is when the trouble started.
I need a drink! Would liked to have bought the guy a Jameson's, I'll have to have it!
Edit to add: those are the settings I have, thanks.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
