Help getting off MET parking fine.

Hi, I would firstly like to thank everyone on this forum who helped me to get off my last fine with Parking Eye.
I have now been issued with another ticket that I think is ridiculous, and I would appreciate your advice again.
I was parked in a side road, where the parking is managed by MET parking. It has 5-6 parking spaces for cars to park horizontally. None of these spaces were available so I parked by the curb opposite these spaces which has no markings. I regularly see people parking here and I have been doing so for years with no problem, however today I was issued with a ticket.
The sign when you enter this side road says parking allowed for 2 hours with no return. The reason for my ticket was " CODE 6 -The vehicle was parked without authorisation".
Now I know that no authorisation is required to park there and people always park there to visit the few shops opposite and the main road nearby.
I am assuming that my ticket is because I was parked along the pavement and not in one of the horizontal car spaces. but I was not blocking anyone and there were no line markings on the road,
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could please advise me how I should proceed with my defence?

Is this definitely issued by a parking company rather than a council?
If so:
1) Was it attached to the vehicle?
2) Are you the registered keeper? (I.e. This isn't a hire/company vehicle)
3) Was this in England or Wales?0 -
Thank you for the prompt response. It was issued by MET Parking Services, so is definitely a private ticket. In answer to your other questions:
1) It was attached to the vehicle.
2) I am the registered keeper of the vehicle.
3) It was in England0 -
Just wait for them to send you the notice to keeper between days 29-56 of ticketing , then appeal using the wording supplied in the sticky thread by coupon mad. You deal with them the same way as parking eye, in other words with contempt. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Ok, so the standard advice in this situation is to wait for the notice to keeper to arrive in the post. This should be somewhen between 29 and 56 days from the date the original notice was issued. The reason this is the suggested course of action is because the postal notice has to contain certain information to be compliant so it gives MET more chances to trip up.
N.B. Don't refer to the charge as a 'fine', some of the members here take great exception to it (on the justifiable grounds that it isn't a fine).0 -
Hi Stroma,
I recently won an appeal about 2 months ago with POPLA for a ticket I received from Parking Eye. That ticket was for parking on private land, I had parked in the small boots car park, and did not visit the store, so was issued the ticket.
I got off on the Genuine Estimate of Loss argument, though I had another 5 arguments in my letter. Do you think I could use the same letter, or do I need a different one due to the different circumstances?
Thanks Da Rule, I forgot that rule.0 -
The same letter would probably do it. As long as you change the dates etc (sorry don't mean to teach you to suck eggs). Also if you reference ANPR this will have to be removed. Also, if the notice they send you through the post isn't compliant with POFA this will give you another appeal point. It's just a waiting game now.0

Thanks for the advice, what is ANPR again?0 -
Automatic Number Plate Recognition. Seeing as you don't recognise it it would be safe to assume you didn't mention it in the previous ParkingEye appeal.0

Quick question, Just wanted to confirm one thing. The ticket I received was stuck on my car windscreen, so will I still get a notice to owner by post? and if so should I definitely wait for the notice to owner before I appeal to them?0
