AIMS Review

Has anyone heard of this company? My 79 year old mother has been sent an unsolicited pack from these people offering her a Financial Health Check provided she pays them an annual fee of £250. She says she has never heard of them but they have sent her a very official looking contract for her to sign. I have taken the pack from her but she has now started to receive phone calls from the people. They phoned 3 times in one day - my husband gave them short shrift when they phoned for the third time and told them not to ring again. They have an address in Blackburn but would appear to have a registered address in Marbella! To my knowledge they have not phoned again but I wondered if these people are preying on the elderly.

    Part of the Furniture
Could be some sort of boiler-room scam. Never pay for a 'financial heath check'.

They've got a website. At the bottom of the landing page it says:-

AIMS Review is a trading style of AIMS Projects Ltd regulated by the Ministry of Justice in respect of claims management activities

So they're just another claims management company touting for business.
  • Aims Review has taken £300 from my mother who is having memory problems and won't refund. They are preying on old people.
  • This company is awful! I was caught out here by false advertising and hope no one else suffers the same fate.

In essence you pay £300 and they chase down a number of financial industries that may have charged PPI. They came up with absurd potential figures of compensation (£3000+) to me when I took the policy out. They have returned nothing and no more work is being done on the case.

The £300 can be returned to you if they don't get you any compensation but only after 12 months!!! So 3 months into the policy and they can't refund me a penny. I will get my £300 back in 9 months time which I have to remember to call them on otherwise they wont give you the money back.

Biggest waste of time and money! All down to their false advertising. The sales team is blatantly lying to their clients to make their commission and the customer service team has to pick up the pieces.

I too was led to believe I was owed a large sum of money upto £13.000. I was cleverly talked into becoming a member even though I did not want any other services. I too was hounded by phone calls every day to change all my utility providers and insurances. I found the whole experience awful and they did not leave me alone.
I have also had my case closed as infact I was not due any PPI. As the information tells you in bold the fees are 100% refundable I too asked for my money back, but also have to wait for a year. I have spoken to my credit card company who feel thay actually I may not get any money back because I refused their alternative insurance etc.
This company has to be the worce one I have ever dealt with. I feel I was very mis led initally. I am also not confident I will get my money back either. It has cost me a lot of hard earned cash, time and hastle and I have not saved 1 penny. Please be very careful with these companys.
  • My 80 year old mum has just been debited £299 by this company :-( she has Alzheimer's and when the packs arrived she said to me "this came what is it"!!
I couldn't get through to them this evening but will try again tomorrow, after reading the posts on here I'm not too sure I will get her money refunded or her details removed from their database.
I think it's disgusting that they can prey on vulnerable people like this!
Has anyone had any luck getting a refund from them?

You could talk to Trading Standards.
  • We managed to get back the £250 our mother paid. We explained that she has memory problems and also some hearing loss. They said if we got a letter from her GP confirming that, then they would refund the money. In the end they refunded it without the GP's letter.

My mother told my sister and me that she had definitely not given them her debit card number (but she had). Aims did send the paperwork, as promised, with cancellation details but my sister, who lives with my mother, looked at it briefly and thought it was something they did not want and threw it away.

We only knew about it when the transaction showed up in my mother's bank statement we tracked down the phone number she'd noted down.

We asked for a transcript of the conversation she had with them which they said we could have for £10. Eventually they sent the C.D recording in which you can hear that my mother was not at all on top of things financially - and she explains, at one point, that her daughters deal with things like insurance and energy bills.

Aims have told us that the agent who spoke to our Mum (very kindly and patiently...) had disciplinary action taken against her and was provided with further training. They say she no longer works for them. But was she scapegoated?

And is there anywhere we should send this recording to?
  • Beware of this company!!!
A year ago a representative of Aims rang and asked if we had been miss sold PPI on our mortgage, he said for a fee of £250 they would look into everything for us and if they couldn't claim back any money or make us... better off financially we would be able to claim back the £250 after a 12month period.
As a year has passed and we tried to reclaim our £250 back but couldn't because we didn't take advantage of Aims' other money saving schemes which the representative failed to tell us. They said they might have made us better off had we used the other schemes but I initially told them I was only interested in the PPI. We did sign a contract but unfortunately only went by what the rep said and didn't read the small printSee more
