Sony Ericsson C905 - major problems...HELP!!

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on my C905 which I have on an o2 contract through Carphone Warehouse...
I got my first C905 the day it was launced in October last year. I've since had two replacement handsets due to faults occurring during the first 28 days - earpiece broke on each handset. I've had my current handset since January. It broke in July (earpiece again), and was repaired by Carphone Warehouse. It is now dying a slow death. The screen keeps freezing, sometimes it looks like a fuzzy TV screen and sometimes it's completely blank. Over the past few days it isn't making any noise when I get a text and the other day it wouldn't charge. This phone has been discontinued by SE due to the vast amount of problems customers have had with it. If SE don't have confidence in it, why should I?!
Each time I've taken the phone to my local store, they've told me to take it myself to a larger store ten miles away where they can carry out repairs (apparently my current handset has to be fixed a total of three times before they'll consider giving me a new handset!) I took it there last week and they told me that they couldn't fix it and it would have to be sent off to Sony Ericsson for repair, taking between 3 and 5 weeks. They had no substitute handset to lend me, and were quite rude when I refused to book my phone in. My arguement was that I couldn't do without a phone for that length of time - plus I'm paying nearly £40 a month for my handset and contract! They told me I should've kept my old handset I had before the C905! In my opinion, it's none of their business what I decide to do with my previous handsets! They told me to take it to my local store the following afternoon as they could lend me a sub handset.
I took the phone to my local store yesterday. They told me it would be a waste of time booking the phone in there because it, first of all, would be sent to the other store I visited, but wouldn't be going there until next Tuesday, then would be a further 3 to 5 weeks with SE. Again I was told to take it there myself!
Has anyone got any idea on what I could do now? I'm completely fed up with Carphone Warehouse. I moved to them from o2 Online last October and really regret it! It is possible to end my contract? They told me in the store that I couldn't.

If you got it in Oct 2008, its still in the 1 year warranty range. I would be tempted to get in touch with Sony Ericsson direct http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/common/contact
They do repairs - and if its in such a bad way, they could replace it.0 -
no you can't cancel your contract i'm afraid. can you buy a cheap basic phone to put you on until it gets back?

Go to Sony Ericsson - plead if need be, tell them you know of all the faults with that model from web sites, they should try to keep you happy.0

I contacted Sony Ericsson. They've suggested sending the phone to them - at my own cost. They also stated that should the problem not be covered by their warranty and I don't accept the cost of repair, they charge £10 + VAT to return my broken handset to me. Through reading up on this phone on the internet, I've seen that they have tried to tell lots of people that the problems are due to damage caused by the user.
On the plus side though, they say their turnaround time is only 5 days at the moment."Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen."0 -
Personally I would opt for £10 - I think they have more to lose to have an unhappy customer than to do the repair or replace the phone.
Mind just be sure the phone is not damaged by you (user) - as long as its definite fault with phone itself, then they are likely to repair it for free. Worth going that bit extra for £11.50 (if its returned un-repaired). Also tell them you have had replacements before as well.0 -

I had the same problem when i had one on Orange. It took 4 replacement phones to get the situation sorted and as the networks are aware of the problem it is down to tthem to sort it.end the tv tax0 -
How did you get yours sorted in the end?"Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen."0

the warrenty is with the manufacturer. the network are your airtime provider. tink, sony repair centres are terrible. i've had phones away for months with them. my advice is to stick with carphone. It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Have you any idea how I could persuade them to let me have a new handset? Just done a software upgrade on the phone - last one was done in July. Now it won't even turn on!!"Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen."0
