Anyone else had problems with RoomsNet.com?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else had booked a hotel room with Roomsnet.com and had any problems like I am having ...

Basically I booked a room in a hotel in Oban, Scotland on the roomsnet.com website in January for my friend’s wedding - I booked a double room for the 22nd August for two people for one night. At the time I paid the deposit - then on the 30th June I paid the remaining balance and got a conformation email and booking reference number.

I thought nothing of it until today when my friend told me that she had called up the hotel just to check the bookings and that they had no bookings for us. I then tried to call/ emailed/ tried to skype roomsnet and can't get through at all.

I then called the hotel who said the room was cancelled on the 13th August and it had been booked by a company called Jacob Online Ltd. I called Jacob Online who said that their client roomsnet had not paid them for the booking and that is why they cancelled the booking and I had to get in touch with roomsnet directly, so not only do I have no room now for my friend’s wedding but I have not received any notice or been given any refund. The room cost £122 for B&B.

I can find two numbers to roomsnet both just ring out +44 207 402 8192 and 0 800 032 9099 but there is no answer to both – I have left messages and heard back nothing…

Has anyone else had a similar bad experience with this website?

Many thanks,
Fiona

  • Hi

I am also having the same problem with roomsnet, spend £270 for 3 rooms at a hotel in York UK. I paid in full on 3July 2009. When we arrived on 22 August the hotel said they had no reservation under our name, and that roomsnet cancelled our booking on 3 August and I have no refund with them. To make matters worse the hotel was full so had to pay over the odds for another hotel.

My previous experience of roomsnet has been excellent, but i will never use them again.

Did you ever get a refund? I am currently going via my credit card company to try and get this.

seems very dodgy to me, the site looks abit funny

I think something is up here
    I am a Travel Agent

My company’s ABTA numbers are P6046. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.
  • The site does look a bit amateurish so I had reservations when I used them in January for a hotel in Marrakech (they were miles cheaper than anyone else). But everything was booked correctly so no problems. I haven't used them since, though, despite many promo emails.
  • i to have had trouble with this company i think i was a bit lucky it was only one night i tried calling all the numbers email to no avail. they sent me an email saying money was refunded lol still waiting i feel for these poor people who have booked a lot of days with them anyone else having problems

Sorry, i have already posted a thread on this before i saw this one. Roomsnet.com to my info have gone bancrupt. I have just returned from a holiday in spain and the hotel that i had booked via this company now refuse any of their accomodation vouchers because they have not been paid for previous bookings and, they say the company went bancrupt a month ago.
  • Just checked out the web site and it is still up and running and taking bookings!! I would not use them after seing this thread, very scarey for someone who has not seen this warning though.

As far as i have checked, they are not taking bookings. The site lets you search but tells you ultimately no availability.
  • Sorry to hear the situation Fiona. I also had the same problem with them, but they have refunded my money last week ( though it took 2 weeks to settle), anyway i have used them before several times with greater savings. You better write to them and check.

Yes, Fiona-we do! We just went to London and experienced the same you did. We called the service number 0 800 032 9099 and got the information, that another (more expensive) room would be later payed by roomsnet.
So we took this room and sent the bill (with the cancellation mail) to roomsnet.com- but as yet (about 3 weeks) we got no money back.

    So be careful! :naughty:
  • I have booked hotels with Roomsnet.com since 2006 without any problems. My last vacation to the Costa Del Sol was in May this year, again booked with Roomsnet.com. I have since tried to book my second holiday for October but somehow I was experiencing difficulties getting hotels to come up via my search, I tried many times using different dates but I was prompted with the same statement. I have since become aware of others being let down by them and people arriving at their hotels and Roomsnet have not paid them. Some have had their hotels cancelled.
I have always been led to believe that booking Holidays, Flights or Hotels on line was cheaper, I recently tried Alpha rooms and got prices of flights but a trip to my local Travel agent presented me with the combined flight and hotel cheaper than on line, they also had transfers included.
From now on Im booking with my high street travel agent, they are cheaper and more reliable.
