Slightly tongue in cheek post this, but I ask you :
AM I INSANE ?? Or just slightly mad ??
Ok here is the scenario :
Want a flight for 2 adults and 1 child ( age 11 ) from Manchester to Orlando, Florida, school holidays
Flights are ridiculously dear ! Best I can find direct are totally out of the question which leaves us with indirect.
1 stopover ( I.E. one connection, in the US ) is coming out at £1600.
Here is where it gets insane :rotfl:.... we could fly Manchester to Dusseldorf, Dusseldorf to Chicago, then Chicago to Orlando for £1180 with Lufthansa. They have a special deal on with FREE kids flights !!
But this means about an extra 8 hours flight time with an 11 year old.....
So I ask the question : If I do it, am I insane ?

its more a question of how you will cope with any flight delay/distruption ie more chance of lost luggage etc / dificulty in connection times? im sure the 11 year old would be fine but will the adults***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0

Hmm not thought of that really, although we have done connections a lot before and had no problems, except once...
.....and that was sorted by the airline.
Think it would be ok as all booked via same airline, although I do stand to be corrected.0 -
OK Manchester to Tampa definately doesnt work ! It adds a leg to Washington, and also for some reason doesnt give me the free child flight, which kind of makes me lose interest !
Manchester to Miami, no flights available, so that is out too.0 -
does it have to be from Manchester? would it not be easier to travel to a different UK airport rather than spending hours going all over Europe and the USA?Cambridgeshire Based Photographer
Positive thinking will get you everywhere0 -

I have a 28 hour flight coming up with a 4 year old and a 7 year old
If the 11 year old is a pain just dose him up on Anti Hystamines. He'll be out like a light.0 -
Update :
Offer too tempting, so I booked it.
Now.....need unbelievably cheap 5 star hotel0
