Hello.

Just after some advice as to what my consumer rights are.

I bought a jacket for my daughter a couple of months back from an internet retailer. After wearing it just once, it ripped from just under the arms, and on the inside.

The item has NOT been washed, because she only ever wore it once, so i would expect this to last much longer!

After a bit of to and fro to the customer services of this company, and after seeing the photos, they have just said 'its not in the same condition as they sold it in, so wont be able to refund it'.

Where do I stand with consumer rights? The item was bought just over two months or so ago, and this company are refusing to budge.

Any advice appreciated.

no, its the right size. I should have been clearer in how and where it was ripped. - its under the arms, but inside, not outside, so the wooly material has come off inside the jacket, under the arms.

More a sign of shoddy workmanship.

    Does that make sense?

does this mean that I have little to no comeback then?
I can't believe that UK law doesnt apply to companies like this. For example when I buy off Zara online (which as far as I know is not a UK based company) I am fully protected and can return within 30 days.

No, you'd be buying from a UK company:

Sale of items through this website is carried out under the ZARA name by Zara UK Limited, a UK company with registered offices at Lumina House, 89 New Bond Street, London W1S 1DA, Company registration number 2245999, with VAT No. GB 649927871
The fact its ultimate owners are elsewhere doesn't matter.
