Not a good article IMO, nothing new there at all, trots out the same old half-truths, lies and non-consequences.
e.g.
"1960s-born children will soon reach age 60 and will have to remain in the workforce through much of their 60s."
Only if they haven't been prudent and arranged their finances to be able to retire earlier.
1995 and 2011 legislation was not well publicised,
see all the evdence that it was, in the other long thread. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
Why've you started a new thread on this rather than adding it to one of the existing ones?0

NOT a good article in my opinion
"That decision was in response to the generally accepted view of likely future increases in mortality."
A very poorly written sentence, but the only reference in the whole article as to the reason why "Over 20 years ago, towards the end of the 20th century, our government decided to require millions of future older people to remain in the workforce for longer. "
It's all very well debating the mechanics of exactly how any changes could/should have been implemented better, but if you are suggesting that that change shouldn't be taking place at all (as this article seems to be leaning towards), then you really need to fully address the fact that state pensions form the largest and every increasing part of benefits expenditure.0 -
A moderately reasonable article questioning the raising of the state pension age, rather marred by dragging Waspi into it and the misinformation mentioned above.0

That is the thing with WASPI. They will scream and scream and scream as loud as they can until they get their way. Thankfully, they are not getting their way.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Pointless article and pointless thread.0

Please, no more WASPI !
(Yes, I know I don't have to read)
Although the penultimate sentence of the article made me laugh out loud.
'They (WASPI) are not doing it just for themselves, but for all succeeding generations too '
:rotfl: yeah, really!Early retired - 18th December 2014

They have now made the front page of my local rag, still harping on about losing £35K.Michela Roberts, who is 60 and lives near Elgin, reckons she stands to lose about £35,000 over the next six years.
