    This is my 2nd diary on MSE. My first diary, "When I asked for luck I didn't mean the bad variety!!" has to be closed as it's reached over 5000 posts!! It can be found here;

In 2011 my Husband had a motorcycle accident resulting in a severe brain injury, memory problems and Epilepsy. Unfortunately he is getting worse not better and I am now his full time Carer, which can be challenging, but I'm ever grateful he is still here! I also have 2 boys aged 10 and almost 5, a part time job and I'm currently a Beaver Leader but I've just given notice to leave at Christmas (as much as it pains me!) as I just can't manage that too. The last 3.5 years have been hard going for lots of reasons, but worth it. Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day!!

At the time of the accident we owed over £23,700 on credit cards and we currently owe just over £3000. Hopefully this diary will see us getting debt free forever! I hope you'll join me.

    MoneySavingExpert.com update, Tuesday 15 Jan 2019

Forumite please-let-me-be-lucky shared her inspirational story on the Martin Lewis Money Show this week.

In 2011 a motorcycle accident left her husband with a severe brain injury. At the time, they owed nearly £24,000 on credit cards. Thanks to her incredible perseverance, all while being a full-time carer, they’re debt-free.

You can watch the story of her amazing achievement on the Martin Lewis Money Show.

Alternatively, grab a cuppa, sit down and read the thread with her diary below (or catch up on events after the show here).

    *sneaks back in*.

Sorry, I did it again! Thanks to those who checked up on me, Iím fine, just somehow got out of the habit of posting.

My Mum has just returned from a nightmare holiday, everything that could go wrong, did. You wouldnít believe it if I told you!! Iíve spent a fair bit of time filling out online forms for her here while she was still away, and I probably have more to do for her now sheís back. MiL goes on holiday tomorrow (hopefully more successfully than Mum) and Iíve been helping her sort travel insurance etc, along with home insurance which has also been due for her. DH and I have both had hospital appointments, Iíve been feeding Mumís cat every day while they were away, and Iíve started Christmas shopping. I think these have been the main reason my time has been disappearing!!

On the positive, Iíve now lost 15lbs in 5 weeks, and Iíve won a posh bottle of prosecco and a £10 voucher. Both squirrelled away for Christmas!!

DH and I have fallen out big style tonight . Iím fed up and he thinks Iím Ďattacking anf negativeí. Sigh Xx

Weíve been to a performance review for DS1 at high school today, and Iím bursting with pride. Heís performing above predicted and is expected to get 6s and 7s at GCSEs, which is As & Bs to you and I . He even got a £10 voucher from the school for his good behaviour :.

I had a phone call from the hospital earlier, asking me to go back in for more gallbladder tests tomorrow . I canít eat in the morning, and I have to take some whole milk and a mars bar in with me which I may have to eat/drink before the second lot of tests, depending on the results of the first ones!! Do they not know Iím on a diet lol .

Iíve won a book which will go in DS2ís present pile for Christmas

    Well done to DS

Sorry you’ve had a fallout with Mr Lucky I fall out with Mr SA all the time but it’s always one sided, he never sees a problem, which is very very annoying

Good luck at the hospital. Don’t know how I’d cope with being told to take whole milk and a mars bar as I hate milk and would struggle to eat a mars bar. Must be a method in their madness. Fingers crossed xx

    Thanks all .

SA, Iím not looking forward to the Ďpicnicí tomorrow either. I donít hate milk, but I rarely have it, and the creamiest I ever have is semi skimmed. The thought of whole milk makes me gag slightly. Iím also not keen on Mars Bars, never have been. Now, if I had to have a Snickers or something Iíd be more interested .

Mr Lucky and I have been ok, but mainly because Iíve just pretty much ignored the fact we argued. Heís been rather forgetful/contradictory today, so it might all be connected. Things like saying he didnít want lunch because he wasnít hungry, and then 10 minutes later asking how long lunch would be because he was starving

It can't be easy coping with Mr Lucky. ((((hugs))))

Hospital went ok today, but I havenít been given any results, so itís still a waiting game. I was there 2 hours while they made me radioactive and I had to lie still for an hour, then eat the mars bar and milk and lie still for a second hour .

Iím amazingly tired for having stayed still half the day!!

I hate whole milk as I normally drink skimmed and I'm not a fan of mars bars either! Now if they said greek yoghurt and a galaxy bar I'd be a bit more enthusiastic I hope you get the results soon.

Weighed in some old clothes - stuff not suitable for eBay - and made a mahoosive £1.48. Better than nothing. Last bundle on eBay has a hid on, so will have to get more listed on there too.

Ordered a couple of Christmas cards from M00nP1g using a 33% off code. It was for the ones that are hard to find in shops, all the rest I buy from the C@rd F@ctory.

Glad the appointment is done. Hopefully you will get to the bottom of it and get sorted.

I buy most of my cards from the C@rd F@ctory, although recently the 10 for £1 cards have vanished which is disappointing as they were handy to have in stock just in case.

SA, the C@rd F@ctory are great, and theyíve been moving with the times. I was able to get Sister and Sister in Law cards from there . They didnít have anything like ĎMum and they guy who would be my step Dad if you were married but you arenítí cards though . They didnít even have Mum & Partner, and Iíve struggled to find those elsewhere too. Special Couple doesnít seem good enough when one half of the couple is your Mum!

Another 2.5lbs off at chub club .

Won a £2 Am@zon voucher on one of the survey sites .

Was just dropping off to sleep a bit earlier when DH had a partial seizure . Heís fast asleep I might add and is none the wiser, but as per Iím on high alert now and wide awake. Fingers crossed nothing else progresses.

Iíve been threatening to do a car boot sale for months, but as tomorrow is the last one this year, and itís been raining hard for like a fortnight, itís safe to say the pitch where itís held will be more of a swimming pool. Have admitted defeat and put the pile of stuff up in the loft for the spring when it starts up again. This then snowballed into a clean up for Santa mission. I checked my stockpile of Christmas cards/wrapping paper etc, and itís pretty depleted . I normally buy some in the sale after Christmas, so not sure what went wrong there, but I need more so will have to pay full price .

Have ordered a couple of books for DS1 for Christmas from Am@zon, and by ordering them together they qualified for free delivery . Used a few of my vouchers from Swagbucks/GFK to help pay for them too . Just had a quick count up and Iíve made £110 in vouchers from survey sites this year .
