We just need to be a bit more MSE, that's what this place is for after all ;)

I'm not cancelling our April trip! These things are swings and roundabouts, we'll have saved some good money on previous trips, so it all balances out.

Plus I'm sure there'll still be value out there for food and shopping. And you can't out a price on fun and the experience! ;)

Your right actually :T I just gave myself a good talking to,lol! It's only me and my youngest going, staying at excalibur. We are only fussed about being in Vegas and will finally do a trip to valley of fire. We were due to go to LA too, but I think we'll scratch that! At this rate, I'll be on the bridge outside excalibur, busking with the rest of them-do be kind when you go by :rotfl:
:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:

With the dollar at near $1.20 I think we will have to seriously think about it,before we decide to book the states for next year.

    It's just becoming a joke.

The thing is when do you actually say "No....I'm not prepared to go at those rates"

If we'd already booked, then fair enough, you live with it.But pre-booking will make us think about it first.
Just waiting for confirmation from wife's work that our dates are ok...then we planned to book the New York/New Orleans trip....but know I'm wondering if we really should.

I posted a while back that all the " extra" costs in Vegas were putting me off booking for next year.

even with those thoughts I as about to book a flight and my son said what about the dollar rate? is it worth booking.

I thought again and didnt book

I have been at 1.3 to the pound but at 1.2 it doesnt offer any value in my opinion

We booked in May at a very good price for November. Luckily the hotel was booked via hotels.com so it has already been paid in full.

Following Brexit we purchased all our $, including resort fees, at 1.3. The drop from 1.45 (pre Brexit) to 1.3 we made back from selling a few bits on eBay. It was stuff we should have sold long ago, but have not got round to doing. The drop in $ provided the motivation.

Regarding the drop of the $ today, rumor is it being an algo fault and then all other followed suit.

Totally agree with this. Even in the summer I always carry a little top around with me. Absolutely red hot outside, and then in the casino I have sat with a cardigan on.

The problem is it's not just the US exchange rate that is poor, it's everywhere. I mean the Euro was 1.60 or more at it's early stages, so it was always a painful exchange rate after that.

We have been going to Asia the last few years, and even the Thai and Vietnamese currencies are lower rates just now, so no matter where you go there's going to be a hit.

If people are spending vast amounts of money in Vegas that it's a huge hit to them, then there must be room to cut back on spends too. There are still good deals to be had in Vegas. Take shuttles off strip and go for buffets, play myVegas and get free food, Social Rewards for free drinks. Utilise happy hours for cheaper food and drinks. Right now it wouldn't stop me going. Not sure what I'd do if it gets much worse though, like $1 to the pound or whatever.

im the same , the rate hasnt put me off. its not a huge difference on what i budget to spend. i have some $ left of this years trip that should last me half of my trip thats booked for next may. couple drinks less each day and a few $ saving playing myvegas.in fact i call a walgreens and the like for most of my beer anyway. take a bottle of bourbon in my case too.very rarely buy a drink in the casinos all should be good.

If it hits $1-£1 I can see Laughlin getting the poverty stricken Brits.
The drop to 1.20 was started by a few comments by the PM what will happen when article 50 is invoked and the French and Germans start being more awkward.

    I dread to think.

Luckily we have a bit left from the last trip. That will tide us over for part of the trip. Six weeks at $1 to £1 wouldn't be good at all.

Whats peoples thoughts on coupon books? I notice at e start of the thread it mentions a membership or a book that both have pretty much the same coupons. Or are we just as well waiting until we get there and picking them up?
