Today's good MSE news is that my boiler can be fixed and it is covered by my British gas insurance! I was terrified that I needed to magically find around £2000 for a new boiler - it definitely needs replacing sooner rather than later but at least I have a little breathing space (and if it can last the 2 years until my CCs are paid off, even better!)

My budgeting month ends on Wednesday and it is looking as though I am going to be £250 over budget! I need to learn how to stick to my budget and stop justifying every over spend to myself, this month I have paid for gig tickets and flights and I have reasoned that these don't happen every month - despite this being true, something similar seems to happen every month so I need to get a better handle on it.

I can't edit my last post but want to write down my spending so I feel a bit more accountable (and to shame myself in to doing better!)
Misc. Spending budget was £200, I spent £381.31 including £39.30 on lunches at work, £114.08 on clothes, shoes and toiletries, £146.90 on travel and events (the aforementioned gig tickets and flights), £59.46 on alcohol and days/nights out and £21.60 on a dentist appointment.
The dentist appointment is every 9 months so not particularly bothered about that spend, plus it is a necessary evil, but the other spending definitely seems excessive. I watched a programme yesterday stating that the national average for this kind of spending is 4%, mine was more like 24%!
There was also £52.08 spent on takeaway which is ridiculous.

Apparently, I miscalculated and I have £40 more than I thought! I am quite enjoying the novelty of having more money than I thought - not sure if that has ever happened before! I have still overspent by the same amount this month as I previously stated though. From now on I am planning on splitting the money for my cc repayment between the cc and a savings account... a back up emergency fund until my actual emergency fund is at least £500

My happiness about my surprise £40 soon went away when I found out that my work will be taking 7% for this month's pension contribution instead of my ordinary 1%! I should get the overpayment back in October ( along with my back paid pay rise for the new role I started in July and still haven't seen any extra money from!) but it means that September will be ridiculously tight, I may need to acquire £100 from somewhere to last the month

Well after panicking about my pension increasing, I have been paid exactly the same that I normally receive! I am on holiday this week and the budget seems to have well and truly gone out of the window, we are spending around £100 every day but I don't mind and am having a lovely week in Malta... I can tighten my belt when I get home.

I'm home and back to work so the belt tightening begins! Not too happy today as I have found out that work are taking 10% next month for my pension which I cannot claim back into November and will eat up a significant chunk of my back pay!
