I've left my purse at home again today, this time on purpose! I've managed to have 2 NSDs in the last week. I've also downloaded the Spendee app, which was mentioned by someone (I lurk on MSE at work but cannot sign in to comment lol) because I had a minor panic when I realised that I have a 3 week block off work where I won't have access to my spreadsheet.

Aargh! Today has really hammered home the need for an emergency fund - a direct debit had gone out for the credit card that I use on holiday, this has taken me over my overdraft limit ( which I recently reduced in a fit of money saving enthusiasm) . My partner was due to give me £200 this morning but his wages hasn't gone into his account by the time we left the house so I am going to have to withdraw money from my credit card, which thankfully doesn't charge any fee to do so and then go to the bank on my dinner, so stressful!

Thanks Beanielou, his wages went in at about 12 o'clock and I put the money to cover the unarranged in my bank in time to avoid any charges, I hope to never be in that situation again!
On a more positive note, I managed to stick to my budget for the month! I've proved to myself that I can do this so I am feeling a lot more confident

I now have the Spendee app (the free version) and I think I might be a bit addicted! I love a good spreadsheet and a graph and being able to update it as soon as I spend anything... Although, the fact it is currently showing £200 that has been spent in 4 days is not good!
I updated my signature yesterday and am very happy to see the balances coming down although this will be slowing as I am planning on paying £170.70 off my CC each month and saving £150 which can be temporarily used as an emergency fund until all my budgets are in order

Definitely not good enough Beanielou... I have received around £300 less than expected and have £12 breathing space in my budget for the entire month! It's going to take a lot of concentration this month

How annoying that because your work messed up, you're having to pay! Ridiculous. My cousin once had to have a substantial amount backpaid to her and because they paid it in one go her student loan from her monthly salary was in £1000s when its normally a couple of hundred.

Been reading your diary though and you seem to be doing a great job, its a good feeling when you're saving money without even realising just from keeping a budget. Keep up the great work!
